BTW: it's a game for the Nintendo Switch if anyone else was wondering.

    • +9

Hence the [Switch] in the title.

      • +8

yep, had to click through to realise that "[Switch] = Nintendo Switch, Switch is a pretty generic term, it's not like Xbox, Gameboy, Wii, PlayStation, etc. The word game somewhere in there might have helped :-)

anyway I was just helping anyone else who was confused.

        • Click on page just to find out what the product was……

@smurftastic: yep thats what i did.

          Did you think:

          [Switch] Octopath Traveler $69 @ Big W

was some sort of on/off switch for a dimensional portal to 8 mystical off-world lands?

        • +2

@KLoNe: I had NFI. I thought to was some sort of luggage thing. I don't own a nintendo switch, to me when someone says Switch, i think a tradional switch, unless they use some sort of gaming context. as i said the word Switch isn't like Xbox, Playstation, etc it's exclusively used for a game console.

        • +4

@supabrudda: NSW is used quite often now, but for us Aussies, that certainly doesn't help out at all!

        • +1

@KLoNe: I thought it was a branded case or backpack

        • -1

          @KLoNe: You mean “NSFW”?

        • -2

          @KLoNe: nintendo switch wnkrs?

        • @supabrudda: Er … Xbox and Playstation are exclusively used for a game console …

      • +1

        Typically it's "game title (platform)"

    • +3

I seriously thought it was a samsonite luggage.

      • -1

Yeah I thought it was some luggage thing too.

I do like the Op does all the time, start talking about something & then people give you the WTF? look.

    • +1

Yes, I have to agree with all the above comments that it isn't immediately obvious what the word Switch is referring to and yes I did realise after a moment but I had to re-read the title to make sure. It just makes browsing OzBargain less efficient if you have to question whether a deal is relevant or not. And here I go wasting more time commenting!

Was $69 on launch day from JB.

    Where's the bargain

  • Not a bargain but this game is selling out all around the world.
Both SquareEnix and Nintendo are surprised at how well it is selling. Reprint might be a possibility down the track but who knows. If you want a physical copy, then I suggest you jump on it now…

    • +14

Um, this isn't like the early 90's when carts got a limited run. If this thing is selling, they will make more.

      • Switch carts are a lot cheaper than high capacity snes carts were.

    • +1

      Physical doesn't run out anymore

  • A few Big W stores have sold out, I wasn't able to get it at Brookside or Brisbane CBD, EB in the city should price match, but one of them was sold out too.

  • +6

Now $69 at Amazon so $59 with $10 Prime Video credit. Also 6% cashback from CR.

  • +1

It has been $69 at JB on the debut day

  • How did people get this $10 off voucher?

    • +2

      Watched a video.

  • Do you guys recommend buying a Nintendo Switch console with this?

    • There's a 3 hour demo you can try.

      • +11

He's not going to be able to try the demo if he doesn't have a Switch!

        • +3

True, maybe he can use his imagination.

    • It is a pretty good game. Especially if you grew up playing the 16 bit era RPGs. This is basically the spiritual successor to Final Fantasy 6/3 but with a lot of the modern tricks with graphics in lighting etc.

      tldr; Yes worth it.

    • +1

Switch is a great console overall so yes. Lots of great games including Octopath.

  • Sonic Mania Plus for $42 is cheaper than the $49 elsewhere too. Will need to grab that.

Good name for an Intel CPU.

  • +2

The game is $69 on Amazon with Prime right now:

    https://www.amazon.com.au/Nintendo-Octopath-Traveler/dp/B07D…

    • +1

      Yup, bought with $10 credit.

      • You're a true Ozbargainer, good work :)

  • +1

I played this game, reminded me of Saga Frontier. I did not like SaGa Frontier

  • Was it not this price from launch at Big W? Big W and JB both had it for the cheapest price at launch. Day after, the price was increased to $79 at JB but has always been this price at Big W. https://www.bigw.com.au/product/octopath-traveler/p/699925/ No need to wait till tomorrow.

  • Came in here wondering what kind of provider switch this is about. Didn't think it was Nintendo related at all.

  • Update: You can now get this from Amazon for ~$55 using the $10 off coupon + cashrewards

  • Does anyone know how long it takes to get the credit?

I did it yesterday morning, and I'm kicking myself for not doing it earlier.

I hope it comes before the price rises again.

    • Mine didn't arrive either but I spoke to their chat and they manually activated it on my account.

  • No stock in any Big W in Melb. Does it mean Big W will get stock in tomorrow?

  • This game looks amazing but the turn based RPG is a deal breaker for me :( I'd love this graphics engine to be used for other games!!

    • A lot of games use Unreal Engine??

      • I think he means the visual style.

    • Sucks that you miss out on many of the best games ever made.

  • I think generally speaking, if the tag used for the deal is Gaming and the title contains Switch in it, it's referring to a Nintendo Switch deal.

  • Are these generally still available in store?

  • My local Big W had sold out. But I was able to get a price match at the nearby EbGames.

  • Eastland had none and I was unable to price match at eb:(

  • Got EB at Casey Central to price match $69 for their last copy :)
