    Duped yourself?

  • Bunnings is selling them for $8.93 and $9.93.

  • which is better compare to Aldi rechargeable battery which is 2500 mAh?

Aldi batteries are definitely not the same quality. I tried some Aldi Active Energy AA batteries. Out of the 4 Pack. 2 no longer working and fail to charge. Older Eneloops I have are still working fine without a failure. I'd say go The IKEA Ladda or Eneloop batteries for better performance.

Have you got a dumb charger to charge it first?

    Should've posted as a deal!
Good price nonetheless, great for Xbox controllers.

      This price for AAAs, too.

  • Looking for rechargeable D size batteries. No luck here.

    • Why don’t you use battery adapters that convert AA to D? They are about $2 for a pair on eBay.

  • I highly recommend anyone after rechargeable batteries for high draw pulse devices checks out the IKEA range (I use them for my dive camera strobes among a lot of other things). They're eneloops in disguise (at least they test to 99.95% of the performance and look exactly like them), which cost 3 times as much.

Potentially the same, but not the same in terms of quality. Quite alot of factories do the same thing, Grade their production then assign them to different "brands" who ever pays the most.

So you may have Sanyo/Panasonic paying the most so they get the A grade products. Then you have the cheaper ones paying B, C or even D Grade stock.

Likely to perform similar, however durability is questionable.

Similar thing they do in the CPU manufacturing business, where they lock down cores or underclock CPU's depending on the grading.

I would argue they are potentially the same in terms of quality too, you don't know they've down specced the QA anymore than I know they haven't. I have 12 of the IKEA ones and 20 or so of the Japan made eneloops and they're just as good as far as I can tell.

Either way, for about the same price as these Varta's, the IKEA's perform better in any high draw situation and hold their charge longer in a dormant state.

I also have a bunch of Vartas I use for remotes and kids toys. They're better for stuff that needs a minimum voltage to work, but low draw. However, I have found in most of those devices I am just better off using throw away batteries, they last for ages anyway and too often a remote or toy gets lost or thrown out and I forget to pull the batteries.

I know the charger is cheap, but it isn't an intelligent one. I would just get the batteries and buy a nitecore off ebay or something like this https://www.bunnings.com.au/varta-aa-aaa-lcd-battery-charger… which looks as though it charges each battery according to it's needs (no over charging).

This is a great point, an intelligent charger makes a huge difference to battery life after a number of cycles. Not a huge difference if you're using it in a remote or something as you won't be recharging it much, but not sure you should even use rechargeable batteries in such devices given the cost of rechargeables vs throw aways.

I can't speak to other brands, but my eneloops are several years old and still going strong. Never going back to single use (what a waste of $$!)

… and contamination of your habitat.

      Eneloops arent enloops either.

You + community have revoked the -1 vote from "Drew22" on this deal.

  • It's way cheaper at Bunnings. If you're rich and EB is closer then I guess it's a deal.
