Weird PLUGIN not available for v6 animal extra above. That one is a great model in v6. v7 has 10 minutes extra run time but $70 difference makes v6 extra also very attractive.
Only difference with this and most V6 variants is the longer battery life.
Motor is the same.
Motorhead is the same as most of the V6 units (i.e. direct drive).

No. The V8 has a bigger battery and newer motor.

Motor performance is same but it has to be a newer/better design. How else will you get extra 10 minutes run time on a smaller battery (2100mah in v7 vs 2200mah in v7) and a quiter vacuum in terms of noise again compared to v6.
Listed specification suction for v6 is 28AW where as for v7 is 21AW. So that explains extra 10 minute run time. So it seems v7 is same design but restricted air suction to provide longer run time.

The V7 definitely does have a number of improvements over the V6. For me, the two standout improvements are: easier to empty, and considerably quieter. Add to that a battery that charges faster, and lasts longer, and the V7 is a top-class machine, while still being lighter in weight than the V8. Note that a while back, the V7 Animal was available for this price from The Good Guys eBay store: $498, then 20% off. I think it also has an additional soft brush tool, as well as the mini motorhead.
If you have both rugs/delicate tiles (e.g. porcelain) and carpets, the absolute with both brush heads is worth paying extra. It's difficult to get the parts later (dyson ask you for your serial number and only sell you parts which were included in the model which you chose).
