Holidaying to Singapore - Sights to See/Things to Do?

Hi OzBargain,

My partner and I have picked up some cheap flights to Singapore in November. I don't know a whole lot about the city and hadn't really thought about travelling there, but now that I have the flights it does seem like a great place to visit. Any recommendations for us to see or do over 2 weeks?

Cheers

2 weeks might be a bit too long for Singapore - nice place but I reckon you could see most of it in 5 days. Maybe look at a side trip to Malaysia too?

    • Thanks, I will look into that for sure

2 weeks is a long time for Singapore, and I am somebody who usually says slow down and spend more time places.
It isn't any lack of attractions, but the island is both small and extremely accessible with great transport - you can do a lot in a day that would take twice as long in Bangkok or Sydney due to traffic and poor transport.
As well as the things you will see in the tourist guides, I would suggest visiting Malaysia for a few days (we caught the train and it was a nice way to travel).
Depending on your interests, the Indonesian resorts in Batam or Bintam might appeal.
You could also consider Orangutans and diving in Borneo for something a bit different.

When we first visited SG we did it as part of 2 weeks that included stays in KL and Penang, so you might want to consider those as part of your trip too.
I was travelling with kids, and we caught the sleeper train from KL to Penang, which was a fun adventure. If that might be of interest, see seat61.com

    • Thanks for the reply, that's good to know! I will look into a side trip to Malaysia and go from there

Singapore is usually always best just for a short layover 1-3 days. Personally, I couldn't see myself spending 2 weeks there. However, there are quite a few good sights to see such as Universal Studios, Gardens by the Bay, Orchard Rd, Sentosa.

    • Thanks for the feedback. Will look into those

Singapore is beautiful but gee it’s expensive, especially to visit for more than a few days

  • I had been there 3 times ( 5 days enough )

go to Malaysia as a side trip… penang and langkawi have good resorts.

one week in Singapore is more than enough… stay nice and eat cheap. our favourite hotel is the marina mandarin.

there are plenty of videos on youtube of what to eat and see. be adventurous with your food.

For something different, ..Cycling at Pulau Ubin ( Ubin Island). $3 bumboat ride. $8 bike rent.
Cycling at night along the east coast towards Marina barage.
