  • 16 GB RAM

Dell XPS would be the first that comes to my mind.

Wouldn't bother with 4k screen on a laptop for multitasking, you'll just end up scaling everything up anyway otherwise you'll be using a magnifying glass. The laptop fleet we have at work have 13.3" screens running at 1080p and almost everyone is running them at 150% scaling.

Lol we had to do that on FHD displays on 13" latitudes

If you are going to hook up a monitor most of the time then you can go for slimmer 13.3” model. Will be much lighter to carry about. Consider Dell XPS 13 or HP Spectre 360 models.

My XPS 13 has become my ozbargain machine. I bought it for 1440$ at the start of the year and i havent looked back since. I often have 20-20+ tabs open and the laptop handles it very well, no lag, no nothing. I often come home with near full battery life, the speakers are surprisingly good, the touchpad quite nice, the keyboard nice, tacky and responsive and the screen absolutely gorgeous. Everything else, like the build quality is just a plus. There's no need to spend 2000+, just get an XPS 13 or 15 (for your $2000 budget) if you want. I highly recommend it.
