Microsoft Surface Range - 15% off at Harvey Norman

80

Received an email from Harvey Norman, 15% off their range of Microsoft Surface products.
Includes Surface Go pre-orders (although seems to be only a dollar less than JB Hifi's normal price).

    Any bargains?

    • +6

It's the Microsoft Surface Range, so no.

      • cheaper elsewhere… unless specific bargains are listed.

  • +5

no bargain, they jack up the price, lol, one of the preorder one already on $598 before 15% off, 15% off is still $598

    • More expensive than a couple of weeks ago.

      • +1

yep, was $498 special few weeks ago

They didn't jack up the price on the Go, on the website there is no 15% off next to those models so they're not included in this deal.

That said it's a bit annoying this is 15% off the selected standalone tablets when there is already a bundle deal including the signature type cover.

That bundle is still cheaper if you want the me or i5 models. Shame they didn't discount those bundles as that would be a great deal.

      • Yeah Surface go is a new model so it wont be on sale. Better get it in Microsoft. If you can claim student discount plus cashreward of 5.5%.

Be careful if you choose to shop in store at Harvey Norman. Their sales staff will try and upsell you stuff, like overpriced Monster HDMI cables and extended warranties which are unnecessary as we are already covered under Aus consumer law.

      People choose to shop there?

And virus protection, and Microsoft, and …..
And they don't like being challenged on why those offers are required.

But it is fun to stay very strong, and make sure other (potential) customers hear your reasons for rejecting the upselling.

And they don't like being challenged on why those offers are required.

because they don't know the answer.

        • +1

Oh, they know - every upsell adds more commission to them.
I actually feel sorry for them, having to work on that basis.

I've bought about 4 things on special or price match over the years.

And everytime they've said "oh we make a loss on these"

So now as soon the guy says yes to my purchase, I say "let me guess, you're making a loss on these" before they can.

They always look at me like I've got super powers

If I'm in a passive aggressive mood I usually reply with "geez it's such a pity that jbhifi are also making losses on this,…."

      • because you are one of the rare ones who don't pay big $$ to hardly normals. :)

      • Then you follow up with this;

"It's your 12 kids I really feel sorry for though, knowing that they'll go hungry tonight because Daddy couldn't sell enough Monster cables."

    • The same can be said for most of the major electronics retailers.

    • Wow that sounds bad :o
I bought my monitor from there and while they did ask if I wanted to extend my warranty for which a simple no did the trick they didn't try to sell me anything so I'm glad that didn't happen lol

Talk to chat, they just manually discounted it for me to $712 for the SSD version.

    • Can you share which model and maybe the receipt/invoice?

      • +1

Yep. Haven’t checked out yet. Not sure if I need it. :)

  • Wonder if it's Microsoft giving the discount or are they just all being sheep and following each other

Been looking at the Surface Pro laptop, and each of them are within a few dollars of each other:
    JB - $1273
    TGG - $1272
    HN - $1268

Just remember the Pen is +$90, The magnetic Keyboard is extra +$160 so is the weird mouse at + $64. Then the surface dock +$200 to plug all your stuff in. Then you need a screen protector and a carry case.
Microsoft Pro is an expensive lesson in option ticking. That said I have one and I like it,

    • Nfi why anyone would buy that mouse
