    Great deal WatchNerd.
I was going to post this deal this morning, got busy and now you've beat me to the post. Well done.
A great deal. Sapphire Eco-Drives Express Shipped and 5 year Citizen Australia Warranty, all for <$100, is unheard of anywhere else but Starbuy.

    • Funny, I have been keeping a tab and I'm sure it wasn't this price early today morning because I checked… Thought WatchNerd has some connections with Starbuy for such amazing deals… But hey I'm not complaining :)

      • +7

I am subscribed to their newsletter (anyone can subscribe) so posted this straight after getting the email.
But I also talk to the rep occasionally via pm on here.

        • +3

You are a champ nonetheless :)

Bought one of the Eco-Drives last time they were $99. Great watch for the price - wearing it right now in fact.

Only quirk is the relatively thin strap. I think the dial would look amazing on leather but it's a bit of a tricky size to buy for.

    • Isn't it a standard 20mm strap? Easy enough to find those!

      • Don't think so, I haven't measured with calipers but using an old ruler in the office I'm getting an 18mm lug width. So quite thin, but works okay with the nice NATO strap (still want to see it on some nice leather)

        • 20 mm strap works. I got the watch and changed the strap to a 20 mm leather one. I think it looks a lot better!

        • Are you sure it's the same watch? I'm 99% sure it has 18mm wide lugs.

Another thing to note is it doesn't have a second hand if that's an issue.

        • @mooboy:

ye it is defs the same. it might have 18mm wide lugs, im not sure? but a 20mm strap does fit.

Thanks WatchNerd… You heard my pleas and delivered. Bought.

    The Eco-Drives have Caliber J165.

The setting instructions, for those needing it, are here.

  • Been interested in getting a new 'cheap' watch since getting my Seiko 5 snk809.

The small strap size is annoying to buy for though.

    Thanks for the post.

  • Is that Nato strap on AU1080-38E?

  • +1

Forgive me if this is a silly question but is there a second hand in the watch? I only see two hands in all the google images. According to the OP it has "Low Charge Indicator - the second hand will skip a second".

    • +2

Well spotted, I think you are correct. Here is a better photo and I can't see it either (scroll down to the 4th photo)

Low Charge Indicator - the second hand will skip a second.

That is something that I have copied & pasted from previous posts and didn't even occur to me that it might not have a seconds hand.
I have removed it from the description.

      • +1

It definitely does't have a second hand.

Got the Black Sapphire Glass one. Cheers!

  • +2

Thanks, got the white and silver one. Will try find a white band and give it to my missus. Should look nice. If not, then I'll put a blue or black band on it for myself.

    • Ordered 1:50pm on Friday. Shipping info received via email about 4pm Friday afternoon. Delivered on Monday morning! Pretty fast service.

Now to find a smooth white leather 18mm strap to replace the fabric one.

  • Those first two not being waterproof is a problem - forget about that for a moment and you'll need a paddle.
Plenty of Eco-Drives circa $130 that appear on here that are.

Surprising as all the other specs are right up there - the Sapphire Crystal and the 9-month rated power reserve in particular.

    • Are they not water resistant for up to 30m?

      • No they are not.

There's a kind of dodgy rating system they use that others will know more about than me.

What i do understand is that watches rated 100m and over means you should be able to swim with them, but not scuba dive to depth. Watches rated 30m is about as low as you get - no showering, no nuffin.

STOP POSTING WATCH DEALS!!! I'm running out of money!! ;)

  • This would of been perfect if it had luminescence ;-; , glow in the dark dials should of been really cheap

      and a mini machine gun

Drilled lug holes as well! wow what a watch for the price

  • are starbuy actually authorised citizen dealers? i cant seem to find the authorised internet dealer trading mark citizen say internet dealers will display.

    https://www.citizenwatches.com.au/authorised

edit: pulled the trigger, needed a new watch as mine just died. hopefully i don't regret it!

    • +7

They're as legit as you can get.
I've bought 9 watches from them so far, 2 as gifts and 7 for myself.
Impeccable service and delivery, amazing prices too.
Every watch comes with its original Citizen box, instruction manual and the warranty card is filled out on the date of purchase, giving you the full 5 year Citizen Australia (and 1 year Citizen international) warranty.
Do a search for Sydney 2000 on Citizen Australia's store locator and Star Jewels Pty Ltd, the third in the list, is Starbuy.
      Read the FAQs.
I can personally vouch for Starbuy's products and service. You won't be disappointed.

      • +1

        Absolutely correct.

Got a response from Citizen confirming this. Excellent seller too, delivery was quick (and free), well packaged, and the watch itself is really nice. I will be changing the strap though. Personally, I think the strap on this is terrible.

Bought a few watches from starbuy. Each time they were a pleasure to deal with and delivery was nice and quick.

  • Should I get the Citizen with the White dial or the one with a black dial if I'm going to swap the nylon strap to a black leather one?

    • +3

Get the white dial because the contrast looks better with a reasonably non-busy dial. An Eco-Drive featuring sapphire glass for $99 is an outrageously good bargain.

      • +1

Thanks for your input, PJC. Very helpful as always. I bought the white - thanks so much for helping me decide!! And yes, what a bargain! I didn't think I wanted yet another Citizen but I just can't resist.

        • +3

Good move. Watch brands nearly always get the watch-strap combination right aesthetically, so persevere with the original strap for a week or two before purchasing an alternative. You might end up liking it.

        • +1

@PJC: Hmm i'll keep that in mind, not a fan of the olive strap on the black one but i'll wear it and see how i feel.

        • +1

          @PJC: thanks, I'll give it a chance.

  • +1

This deal is still good - just bought one for my mother in law :)

    • +1

      White dial or black?

      • +1

black - I was after the best contrast / visibility. For her it is functionality (catching buses, appointments etc), unlike the majority of us :) I might try to find a different strap for her though - black? I'll keep the warry one.

        • +1

After wearing the original strap for a couple of weeks she may end up liking it. It's not a bad combo.

        • +1

@PJC: OK, will see how she goes :)
