I likea da Apple products too but only $100 off after being out for almost a year?! Sheesh 😳

    • +8

Will drop considerably after the new model's out in September.

Can’t wait for the $110 off ozbargain post

      • +3

It will drop, but it won’t drop considerably if previous gen’s are anything to by - the 32GB iPhone 7 still has an $849 RRP, nearly two years after release.

        • +5

Wouldn’t surprise me if the 7 disappears and the 8 replaces it at similar price points.

          @Smigit:

          They're still selling the 6S.

Jobs would be turning in his grave.

          @LoopyLou:
It’s how they power their HQ.
The continuous grave rolling is able to generate Apple limitless energy.

    • The link doesn’t work

Sorry, it's just a search for iPhone 8 64gb at the officeworks website. They have the same colours as JB so should be okay to price match.

Note 9 comes out in 3 weeks in Aus and iphone whatever they're up to comes out in September-early October.

I can't wait to grab both. One for work and one for personal use.

When I was getting my $49 Telstra SIM port in from JB HIFi, I was told that I could purchase the iPhone 8 for $925, excluding gift card subsidy. Try asking in store, I managed to get (in theory) a good price, and good value on cases and accessories (was willing to do a further >50% off deal on them)

I’m confused about what the neg is for

    • +1

Why have you been negged- you’re just trying to save people more money by potentially asking for a better deal?

      • I'm not sure either; however $50 per month PLUS near-full-RRP for the handset does not really seem like much of a deal all considered.

  • Dang my flagship was a little over half this price after release. I guess they hold their value. But damn.

  • Damn, my folks just both upgraded their old iPhone 4 & 5 to the 8 from JB. Anything they can do about the price drop i.e. does JB offer price protection?

    • +2

No hurt in asking. Just need to ask politely.
Some of them would just do a refund and repurchase for you. Since they technically don't have a price difference refund option.

Really depends on how long ago they purchased. E.g are we looking at 1 week, or 4 weeks ago. What's considered fair game?

      • One was a week ago, another was 2 weeks back. Thanks for the input, definitely no harm in asking!

    • +2

If they bought in credit card they might have price protection on it?

    • Ok so apply usually has a 30 day refund, so try go through them - as it is an apple product. They would accept it, then I guess you could go to a new JB store and rebuy it :)

      • I think that policy is only for like new products. E.g. opened and never used.
If the phone doesn’t look new they may refuse to do refund. Sometimes if this is the case you can say store credit. Which works for your cuz you can rebut, but just means there will be some credit remaining.

        • Both phones are definitely (being) used now, but still worth a shot at taking to JB about what they can do.

        • Not sure about stock not bought in an Apple store but I have bought a MBP from Apple Sydney, used it (and disclosed that) and returned within 14 days no problems. Not sure about 30 days though, but 14 days change of mind is 100% an option at Apple.

  • The price of the iPhone 7 has dropped to $849 which, for my purposes, is a better deal. i went in store to JB on the weekend and they offered a lower price of $816. I asked if they had any telstra deals and they are still offering the $200 giftcard when you signing up for 12 month $49 plan (port in only). It might be worth asking about further discount in store and telstra offers.

    • Mmm Still not sure about the glass back on the 8 so 7 might be a better purchase.

      • That's one of the reasons why i am buying a 7 rather than 8. The 8 does have wireless charging that the 7 doesn't have and the JB I went to only had the 7 in matt black so less colour choice.

Officeworks just dropped their price to match
    https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/iphone-8-6…

Does that mean they wont price beat?

    • Yes. There's no lower price to beat…

  • +2

Since when 979 for a phone a bargain .. it is still over price

      I remember I bought iPhone 6 when new 4 years ago. 64gb $999.

  • I'm rocking a $90 Nokia 3 and love it.
In saying that, my work mobile is an 8+ and I love that too. I just love android a little more.
Mostly because there's no work spyware on it.
The 8 is a good phone for anyone wondering. I'd buy one for personal use if I had a grand to spend. Maybe.

Optus have a great deal for the iPhone 8 at the moment but for some reason as a first time poster I can't post Optus deals?!
