Product Website and Data Sheet only show max. 500GB???

    • +2

This is the latest addition to Hitachi's X-Drive family of drives. They haven't updated their website to include it yet… we are selling the 750GB version of the drive.

At 9.25 GB per dollar, that is a pretty good deal if it is the size it say it is.
What I don't understand is that, there is the exact same drive available for "free shipping" for $99.95 at this link:
    http://www.expresspcparts.com.au/Items/HDD-111-ALT-0S03076?s…

    • busted!

      • It's still cheaper even with shipping for me ($10 shipping to Sydney)

  • Is it any good thou??

    • +4

Not sure if it's any good, but the specs do sound sexy

Velvety smooth texture for a secure grip

Cool underside LEDs for extra glow

      No.

We have returned several (500GB) ones under warranty.

Hitachi are refusing to 'cover' one drive because we did not send the plastic case.

  • well considering you can get a 1TB on special for $99 its not really worthit. and a 500G for $60

its a OK deal, just postage kills it

If the store rep is not prepared to stand by their claim that they are selling a 750GB drive (or apolgize and ammend the item details)
it is Misrepresentation and should be sanctioned by penalty by OzB

Well, is it 750GB or not!!?

    • +5

      It is a 750GB drive.

This product is the latest version of Hitachi X-Drive series.

Hitachi hasn't updated their website to include the 750GB drive, so theire product page and .PDF datasheet only mention the 250GB, 320 and 500GB drive.

We are selling the 750GB drive.

The deal is good, price per GB is great.
But Sorry, I have to neg this based on quality of hitachi drives.
I've had nothing but bad experiences with this (and one other brand) and would not use them if you paid me.
    Caveat Emptor.

    • On the other hand. I've had nothing but good experiences with Hitachi drives.

I think though, people need to realise that all computer equipment, unless it's dedicated server equipment is pretty much junk.

Beliving that one dirty cheap yum-cha hard drive is going to be better than another drive for quality is just silly.

They're all cheap and they're all rubbish.
