- $800 Total Value = $400 Talk & Text to Anyone + $400 Talk to Live Connected mobiles

This plan will not suit you if:
- You are a very occasional user of a mobile, check out the Discovery Lite (http://www.liveconnected.me/index.php/sim-only/discovery-ser…) instead
- You make a lot of 13/1300/1800 - these call types are not included in the cap.

Looks like a good deal, even better than the TPG Medium Talk & Text plan. Let's see if TPG change their offering to match this. Although TPG don't have the 6 month contract.

Wasn't this posted just a few days ago ????

    • JV - we had the first offers come through just for voda/3 ports. We're using the extra we got to make it available to all.

      • cheers…

  • Excess data $450/Gb OUCH !!!

    • +6

      and it is $450,000/Tb !!!! That's ridiculous !!!!

Of course, $0.45/Mb (as listed on the website) doesn't really have the same impact, does it.

      • +2

It is perfectly normal to measure monthly internet use in GB. A MB is nothing in that context, and a TB is too much.
Calling it 45c/MB is like a petrol station advertising fuel at 0.45c/ml .

        • Get a better plan….$100/GB is still bad lol! Even Telstra $79 Cap would just about meet that and give better speed and coverage…

        • ouch… damn

        • Hmmm. Try the discovery Heavy. You'd get 2GB, plus $750 Talk & Txt to Anyone

  • So international calls aren't included in the $800 ???

    • -3

      No.

      • Why not?

        • +7

Can't reply to the reps comment below: "Ask Optus."

That's a really lame comment coming from a customer service rep. We're asking YOU, who are offering the plan. NOT your backend provider.

Do your job properly and find out for YOUR customer, instead of trying to pass the buck!

        • +3

          Ask Optus.

I'm currently with Virgin Mobile who also use the Optus Network and all international calls are included in my monthly call allowance…

      • +2

This is why the caps from optus are much less valuable than similar caps from vodafone, almost all my eligible spending in VF cap go to international calls.

  • I assume your SIMS will work in an Optus locked phone ?

    • Yes.

  • have live connected improved there billing issues????????? im considering moving to this plan or TPG

    • Yes. Here's what we did:
      1. Discontinued the old Endeavour plans they had an issue with the billing
      2. We launched a new usage portal, that let's you stay on top of the monthly bill, and also let's us double check the accuracy of our billing partner.

You make a lot of 13/1300/1800 - these call types are not included in the cap.

Not "a lot" but "any". 13-calls can be long, and the teleco banks on this. It is a scam, and disgusting.
A single call could easily double you monthly bill, at 90c/min, ++
    Check your past phone bills!

      I agree with manic.

The product description page from LiveConnected does not mention that 13/18 calls are billed outside the cap.

It is so simple to list "Plan inclusions" and "Plan exclusion" in their production description page, so customers can know exactly what they get.

Obviously, LiveConnected wants to hide the fact that 13/18 calls are outside the cap. Is LiveConnected preying on its customers?

      • -2

Hi - please look at the description.

        • I can see it in Ozbargain description this time (unlike the previous occasions), but can not see in your website.

Here is the link from LiveConnected, which does not mention about 13/18 calls being charged outside the cap.

          http://www.liveconnected.me/index.php/sim-only/discovery-ser…

What is the reason for excluding such an important billing information from LiveConnected website?

        • Hi Surm

On the bottom of every Discovery Series 3 page you'll see a link which says "Click here for Discovery Series 3 Social Specific Terms & Conditions"

          Here is the link: http://www.liveconnected.me/index.php/need-to-know/legals/it…

Its only a short well laid out PDF that details everything clearly.

        • Aha…it is hidden not in a web page, but in a PDF?

I suppose PDF costs less than HTML, so hiding these important billing information in a PDF was a measure to reduce rising costs of HTML!

The fact that you had to mention the same piece of information in this ozbargain entry highlights the fact that you consider it to be important, but choose not to disclose it in your product description webpage.

  • I'm more interested in about what happen after 6 months?

  • YOu provide BIS????

    • Hi - no we don't provide BIS

  • +1

I have been with them for a few months now and they've been quite good. Although the existing offer looks even better. Includes international SMS/MMS in the cap which a lot do not. 3 included international calls to a certain extent which was even better in their larger plans. Fixed up a billing issue with the data pretty quickly as well.

Anyone considering to move to this is advisable to research more before doing so,

rather having nasty surprises of features later on..

    • Hi there - here's a link to all our submitted deals.

        Thanks.

Please provide information such as you don't have a call center. Only possible way to escalate issues is to drop/email messages to your customer service using your site (because this information might be crucial for most customers)

Then they would know what they can expect that they pay for, and possibly they would have lease disappointments.

        • Hi there

You can use email, although if you're a customer you're provided with a customer service portal. Here you can log, view and track cases. Here's a quick video walk through of it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B4rsSACoy_Y&feature=player_em…

A lot of customers actually find it easier to use the online portal than call into a call centre because:
          1. Online is available 24/7
          2. Log your case once, instead of being tossed around a call centre speaking to a multitude of departments
          3. More accountable, you the customer can see what we're working on, and
          4. For the most common questions, the system will actually give you a couple of recommended solutions.

But hey, it (online) is not for everyone.

        • +4

Is there any chance that your portal would give 'recommended solutions' such as 'ask Optus'?

  • So, can you confirm what will happen after 6 months? Would you increase the price or will it always remain $15?

    • Hi - after the 6 month mark the price will MOST likely remain at the discounted price. HOWEVER as we're not contracting these after the 6 month mark if the supplier changes the price we'll need to change the price. If this (price change) does happen - we'll give you 30 days notice.

So in summary, to be conservative, best to make your decision thinking at the end of 6 months, the price will go to the full price but you'll get 30 days notice so you can port out.

      • fair enough.

  • Why there is still $20 shipping charge, after I applied the coupon?

    • Hi - the discount is on the ongoing monthly access fee.

  • "You make a lot of 13/1300/1800 - these call types are not included in the cap."

My opinion is that these plans are not suitable if you make even one or two calls to 13/18 numbers.
Calls to 13/18 numbers tend to be long because they are operated by businesses (banks, utility companies, government, insurance providers, ISPs etc) where callers have to find their way through voice menus and wait in the queues. You'd be lucky if you get the work done under 5 mins.

So 2 calls mean additional $10 in the phone bill, if you choose plans like these.

  • Hi All

We've had to bring forward the expiration date of the offer. The coupon will expire on 17/2/11 at 11PM.
