  • i ported from Voda to a Virgin prepaid mobile a week ago do i found a good deal.

Can i still sign up to this deal?

    • Hi Juln

This current offer is only for mobiles coming from Voda or 3.

  • +2

So over $2 for a 70 second call? $450/GB for data?

That "$800 value" (value -haha) means maybe 250 minutes/month of real calls.

Cheap if you are perfect and never_ever go over the caps.
Unless there are some sneaky exclusions not included in cap. Not one of those plans where they screw you on 13- numbers is it?

    • A sting in the tail. You can't return a call from your voicemail as it falls outside the cap limit. Apparently there is nothing they can do about that one, because of the way Optus does things. That's the only gotcha I've encountered. Otherwise, I'm happy with the service.

    • For 15 bucks a month, i dont think you should be complaining about call charges (which are similar to other carriers) and data when they already provide 1GB.

You have a point about the exclusions, they do exclude 13/1800 numbers.

  • -4

It says you need to CURRENTLY have either Vodaphone or 3 to do this!

    Put that in the title!!!!

    • Hi - can't fit in the title but included in description now.

      • +4

Can I port from a $2 prepaid Voda SIM? :-)

        • LOL - sure.

    • Doesn't warrant a negative! It is nevertheless a good deal! You had to waste an extra few kb of data clicking the link… That was it

  • +2

I think it is prudent to state in the description that calls to 13x xxx, 1300, 1800 numbers are excluded from the cap.

  • After 6 months, monthly charges will remain $15 or will increase to $19.50?

    • Hi Chetan

It may increase to $19.50, as effectively we're only locking in the price with our suppliers for 6 months.
However should a price increase be due, we will give you 30 days notice.

  • Is there extra charge for "roaming" on 2G when using data? eg. Is 2G data included in the quota or is it charged separately like Three currently do.

    • mate…three is not currently charging me 2G data separately. u better fix them up…

      • From Three's T&C, there has always been a charge

³ Data for use in 3’s Broadband Zone. Additional data usage rate and Roaming within Australia rate (including within 3’s Broadband and 2G Zone) is $0.50/ MB. 1 month included data expiry. Included voice value cannot be used for data. Services subject to device capabilities, network limitations & customer location.

        • I think I m in the very old cap, may be that's why they r not charging me extra..

  • +2

Your Talk & Text to Anyone value cannot be used on International voice calls?

    • yes i think its only for local anyone to anyone if im not wrong.. don't think it includes international on that price.. but it does include 13/1300/1800, etc.. compared to TPG..
allows international sms though.. but not international voice calls…

      • yes. it doesn't allow you to make international voice/video call..
I think Telstra and Optus doesn't allow international calls at all in their cap plans.
Liveconnected is through optus, so it won't allow.

      • oops… i don't think they include 1300/13/18, etc numbers… previously they did for my contract.. sorry can't edit my post..

      • just for clarity:

TPG do not include 1300/13/18 calls in the cap, and you will be charged for these.

        • To clarify, TPG "Cap Saver" plans include calls to 13/1300/1800 in the cap.

"Included Cap Value can be used for Mobile Data, SMS, MMS and Calls to National Mobiles & Fixed Lines plus 13/1300/1800 and Voicemail"
          http://www.tpg.com.au/mobile/plans.html

        • the "Talk & Text Cap Plans" do not include 1300/13/18 calls in the cap

  • Hi Rep

Today evening I was trying to sign up for your earlier offer ($8/month) but I can't complete the order after the point I provide my details (driver license, address and other details). Once I submit my details next page prompt a user name and password. I provided the user name and password I initially entered in the previous step, but it desn't let me in to complete the order.

Bit worried that there is no any contact number to call you and get some help.

Edit: Now I just tried "forgot password" option entering my email address as user name it give following error,

Error: Your username was not found. Please contact your support organization.

I am wondering who is this "support organization"???

    • Weird. Shoot through your details using the link on our site - you'll see an envelope icon.

  • Seems like they're trying to kill off TPG's mobile plans :p :p :p

    • TPG plans are sucky, but the only thing about it is that it provided phone support which is useless to me.. i had problems with their adsl2+ and their support is horrible from my personal experience, require a senior engineer to deal with it, they're blocking my vpn?!… if its not for the value i'm getting with TPG, i wouldn't have signed with them.. its crap..
they spend lot of money on advertisements.. and its still cheap compared to actual providers like Telstra and Optus

  • what happens once you go over the 1gb data allowance is it shaped or you get charged?

    • You get charged. But there's a new usage meter out which makes it easier to stay on top off things.

  • @ coolstep, you get charged after you go over limit. Very expensive going over the limit as I have experienced before>< So make sure you don't go over limit or else you will be screwed

  • any similar discounts for the heavy plans assuming I still port a number across from 3 or Vodafone?

  • I would like to know if you can stay on the plan after 6 months ?
and also, can someone with "optus yes-time" call a liveconnected sim for free ?

    • +1

and Im wondering if there is a charge for leaving after 6monthS?
ie: TPG charge $11 to port out.

      • -1

Bizarre. No we don't charge a port out fee. The only thing we ask is for 30 days notice, so we can advise you of your likely balance.

  • is it 1GB of net per month?

    • Yes. And billed per KB.

  • +4

    Folks,

I am voting negative because a vital piece of billing information(Calls to 13, 18 numbers are charged outside the cap usage) is hidden in this description and the relevant product information webpages from Liveconnected

    http://liveconnected.me/index.php/sim-only/discovery-series/…

This was only revealed in a previous comment when someone specifically asked (http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/39134)

Online advertising is not like printed media advertising, where sellers have to pay for the space. Adding a sentence to seller's product information page and online advertisements like this, revealing that 13,18 numbers are charged outside the cap, does not cost anything…..unless the seller expects revenues from unsuspecting users.

    • +5

Thanks! Not only kills the deal , it was done deceptively.

13, 1300, 1800 are not included. These are charged outside the cap.

    • +4

      Agreed, deceptive advertising.

      • ditto

  • REP: Do you have your new usage meter yet? (ie one that calculates data/phone remaining automatically)

(reason is, on whirlpool there have been comments about their usage meter being VERY buggy.. but I've only read up to may 2010 so far =p )

Your usage section absolutely sucks and I think you guys are doing it on purpose so people under-use your services to be safe. And then those who overuse it get massive bills.

    cloudy111 writes…

I could not agree more, the usage section DEFINATELY needs to be improved as a matter of priority. The website and portal in general needs to be user centered to even attract new users and also retain current ones.

Stitchy: edit add: seems they have implemented a beta usage meter.. think I'll stick with TPG til I hear this is all sorted..
    https://liveconnected.me/index.php/support/my-account/usage-…

  • +1

Usage section is a mess, i could not understand how they are charged and you have no idea you are inside the cap or over the cap.

  • +1

I am not going to Neg this deal though my experience with them at sing up process is not good. Also looking at others' review (ozbargain and whirlpool) I feel those guys hide lot of information from their customers. My deal break reason is, there is no direct way to contact them. I can email them but they have chance even not reply my email. I fear that I might end up with them in a nightmare. Better keep my hands away.

    • i agree.. I use my mobile phone for business and therefore need a contact number, good usage meter, and a perhaps a company with a bit more of a history.

(on a superficial note: i find liveconnected.me to be a pretty dodgy domain name.. and the site is tacky.. poorly designed)

  • liveconnected have a similar coupon code for pretty much the same deal, but difference being applied to any network port.
