  • I would avoid all insurance provided by nib. One of the worst health insurance firm.

    • I thought this deal is for AAMI? (not saying AAMI is any better).

Edit: nevermind, just saw the underwriter being NIB… and I totally agree with you. NIB and BUPA are two of the worst.

      • who do you go with?

        • Industry fund.

          Otherwise HCF is slightly "better".

Can I know what industry fund means? sorry, I am new here.

  • Hey OzBargainers, I've just got my permanent residency a few weeks ago. Do I need private health insurance? I'm not sick / don't have any disease that I know of. Is medicare enough? Thanks

    • Ambulance cover. Otherwise you'll be right, mate

Kinda depends how old you are/how much you earn/ do you plan on having kids and stuff. The short answer is you probably don't need it, but you may in certain circumstances want it.

Once you earn over a certain amount a year you have to pay an extra medicare levy if you don't have private insurance. Also if you don't continually hold insurance after 30 then you have to pay more.

      • I was about to write exactly what you said. You beat me Chickenface

Age is 32 after which you have to pay 2% loading every year over it for 10 years.

        Single - $90,000 / $180,000 (couple) - for Medicare Levy Surcharge

  • How is the $200 cash back paid?
