They have quite expensive rates and the discounts are applied to the next bill when you pay the current bill in full.

i.e the bill is $200. Instead of paying $160 to settle it in full you need to pay $200 and the next bill is credited with $40. If you leave then the discount is unable to be utilized on the last bill that is paid on time.

      The above statement not true?

      • Sure it's true. They apply the $50 credit to the first bill then apply any billing discount on the next bill based on the remaining amount that is paid on the first bill. It becomes difficult to compare.

There isn't a blanket rule on who is cheaper. Depends on each persons address.

Anyone used the Victorian Energy Compare website? One of the recommendations I got was Amaysim, are they reliable?

    • scammers, run

A couple of weeks ago I used the Victorian Energy Compare website. Amaysim were a close second cheapest. I'm in Mornington, Vic and have been with Amaysim since Jan 2018 (who are reselling Click Energy's offering). Seems to be working Ok so far although I hate Click. I was with them previously and they upped the pricing 3 times in 4 months which amounted to a 45% increase - FFS !!! - and don't get me started on there purposely confusing billing. Needless to say, I monitor every detail of each bill.

      • Amaysim aren't reselling, they bought out Click Energy.

        • Oh Ok … I didn't realize

I am switching now from them, their system of applying discount is a joke, watch the hands:

    1) discount applied to next bill
    2) but, they give discount credit based on previous bill, meaning - after any discount and solar credits been deducted, than you get your discount

Digesting these takes time, took me 2 bills (first was $2 due to voucher). So this mean:

    • discount never applied to amount which is deducted by solar credits. (which could be half of a bill)
    • discount only applied to part of the bill after discount (received from previous bill)

so effectively you get not 33% discount, but applied only to part of a bill, so you rather get ~10-15%, and considering their very high initial tariffs, this becomes a ripoff.

    Do your math homework..

P.S. beware, Click Energy has same system of discounts. And I think there will be more dodgy ones like that on market soon.

Click Energy is Amaysim. Amaysim bought click a while back. The ACCC has recently been getting a large range of charges against Amaysim/Click Energy for deceptive and misleading plans and comparisons.

      • Thanks for info. Looks like charges are not big enough, they are still in market..

      • Stayed for 3 months, useless scammers
