Find Me a Cake (Small)

Located in Sydney

My friend just came back from overseas and brought a bunch of gifts and I need to return the favour. She has been complaining about not having cakes on her birthday because everyone assumes she prefers her own baked cakes.

Preferences
- Not too big but regular size or smaller should be fine
- Preference on sorbet (her favourite gelato is mint lemon)
- Within CBD or west area (I work 24/7)

No limit on budget if you can vouch for something I'll buy it.

  • Any cake at Zumbo in South Yarra. I would try the shop. Online looks like its not working given the voluntary admin now.

    • I think he is in Syd, would be useful for op to clarify though ; D

      • Yeah would be helpful. But still useful for Melbourne people if looking for something special. Not back for what you get.

    • I'm in Sydney but the next time I visit Melbourne I'll have a look :)

      • There should be a Zumbo in Sydney as thats where he is, but probably not close by to where you are. Be worth a trip there as a treat.

There's a Zumbo at QVB and at Gateway at Circular Quay so meets his city criteria

    WTF is mint lemon Gelato?

Also, their Taro, Green Tea and Black Sesame flavours are awesome.

    • Was just going to comment Pure Gelato. I highly recommend them. Really good gelato cakes for reasonable prices too.

    • Next on my list of cake purchases thank you!

I'd just like you to read my comment and waste time much like how you've wasted everyone else's by making them read a thread you made about finding you a cake.

    Two places:
https://larenaissance.com.au/ - in the Rocks and Waterloo - Waterloo is probably easier to get to.
https://blackstarpastry.com.au/ - A number of places - Newtown and Rosebery are the ones I'm familiar with.

Blackstar's Watermelon cake is a classic and well recommended.
If you like chocolate, try La Renaissance's Zulu cake.

    • THANK YOU.

I bought the le roi soleil, macaroons and some nice candles :)

where in the west? Papa Pasticceria is an option. They have locations in Haberfield and Five Dock.

    • Probably more Hebersham than Haberfield (which is usually referred to as inner west)

    • I could eat a whole ricotta cheesecake

      • me too, the small ones are only like $27 and the large ones $40

        • I ate most of a small one…had to save a couple of small slices for my wife and child…lame
