First thing I would do with any 2nd Hand phone is "RESET" it before joining to my network.

        • @Borg:
It had been "factory reset"; the bad apps were part of the customised firmware. The only way to get rid of them was flashing new (stock samsung) firmware with odin.

        • @ssquid:
          Wow, that's bad…………really bad!

Just a heads up regarding SM-G930S Korean Version. I received the phone with all the issues mentioned previously like pop up ads and the phones been rooted.
I managed to flash the phone with latest firmware Android 8 Oreo to original Korean version and it's running very well. Phone handles 4g and Internet speed is excellent. The internet speed are somehow better after I flashed the phone.
If anyone has received the S or L version and would like info on how to flash the phone PM me.
It's a great phone once original version is installed.

    • I'm still not even sure which model I actually received - the IMEI is supposedly for a G930L but it has G930S baseband and bootloader firmware. Either way it runs fine now with a G930L nougat system image, except it can't find the Oreo OTA update due to the mismatched versions.

Supposedly the Korean models are meant to have a built-in DVB tuner but I can't find any sign of it.

  • I bought the S8+ and based on the IMEI, I got SM-G955U posted to me yesterday. I tried using www.frequencycheck.com and willmyphonework.net to find out whether it will work in Australia or not. But, I got 2 different answers from them. One said it doesn't have B28 but it has B40 and the other said it has B28 but not B40. Looking at gsmarena, I think it will work in Australia. Can anyone confirm if this is correct or is there something that I missed? Thank you.

  • Can we flash Australian firmware on G930S (Korean) model? Anyone has got a link to latest Oreo update for this phone?

    Thanks.

      • Thanks. I have received the phone and in its device info it says G930F, but IMEI check (on webs) says G930K and Invoice says G930S.

I am currently downloading Australian Oreo XSA firmware from SamMobile.

        https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-s7/SM-G930F/XSA/d…

I hope there would be no issue since the hardware are same.

        • Just tried to flash G930F rom but it failed to flash. In the 'download Mode' the phone model is specified as SM-G930S. This seems so dodgy.

          I got error:

          secure check fail pit

    • Make sure you know what you're flashing, these phones have downgrade protection.

  • Hi All, I bought two S7s on Monday night (they now have stock) and checked the IMEI at https://www.imei.info

    Got these two responses:
    G930F Galaxy S7 (SM-G930L)
    G930F Galaxy S7 (SM-G930K)

I'm a noob and I don't know what the SM-G930L/K refers to. Is G930F the type and SM-G930L/K the region specific firmware?

    • They're all codes for different hardware models.
The G930F is the "generic" international version, not tied to any carrier.
G930L and G930K are south korean versions, nearly the same hardware and with pre-installed software for the carrier that sells them.

Geardo is shipping the korean models flashed with (dodgy) international firmware.
