My name is Jack and I engage in activities which are harmful to the consumer in the long run :).

The ozbargain minions will shout their praises after finding 1 genuine discount in a cesspool of spam, hehe.

    • +1

Jack, you are nothing compared to Gerry Harvey.

      • -1

Gerry can only do what he does because Labour and Liberal take money to do things like tax you while Gerry pays no tax.

        Gerry is not the problem.

Corporate control of the Labour and Liberal parties is.

If you want to stop losing money while business pays no tax then stop voting for parties that are controlled by business through legal bribery.

      • Gerry is a JACKARSE

  • +1

    Price jacked already I think

Looking at a Canon camera from Ted's. Fingers crossed they don't up the price

  • bargains??

  • +4

I would highly recommend DCXpert for camera gear, especially for Sigma lenses. They don't price jack and have swift delivery.

Are there any other businesses on that list that have a good reputation and don't price jack?

    • Seconded. Have bought a sigma lens from them in a past ebay sale for quite a reasonable price.

    • +1

Afraid to say they did finally raise their prices on a lot of gear, especially lenses. Was around 640 after discount for the 18-35 1.8 and its a lot more now. Pity! Some good deals left on tripoids though!

      • I wonder why the sellers price jack. Doesn't eBay cover this promotion fee so the sellers would have no loss anyway? Or is it the sellers who have to cop the difference

    Recommendations for a feature phone?

    • +3

      Yeah a pay phone

    • +1

Pick up an old Blackberry somewhere for cheap.

Best bits of a feature phone (long battery life, sturdy frame, physical buttons, snappy OS) but also the best of modern phones (decent web browsing, WiFi & Bluetooth, touch screens on later models, limited app support).

I picked up a BB Bold 9700 on an eBay auction for just over 10 bucks a few weeks back, whet my appetite and ended up grabbing a Bold 9900 for 35 a week later with a touchscreen. It's honestly my favorite toy since the Xperia Play came along.

      • -2

        You must not have friends..

  • -1

After the LOgitech G933 but cheapest after discount is about 190. I can get it from Arc COmps for 195 any day of the week though!

No deals for eBay plus gonna cancel

    • +1

Yeah cool I was dying to know.

    • just cancelled today :(

      • I cancelled yesterday but now I'm thinking I should not have, I would probably have saved $29 in postage over the year.

        • +1

Well since the June July offers nothing good for eBay plus members on discount.

          So it's crap

        • @neonlight: Agreed.

  • Excellent timing having missed a previous deal. As long as the prices stay the same as they are today.

  • +1

    No Computer Alliance no deal

  • +3

Jack sent me to give you this example. Kong Computers Metabox Prime-S P950EP $2399 -> $1919.20. However directly from their website the same model is $1779 still with free shipping.

Buying from their site is cheaper than directly from Metabox.com.au which is $1799 + shipping.

    • +3

      Hey there,
I just wanted to update you that the Metabox laptops on our eBay store are different to the website. eBay has limited upgrade-ability, so we can't put up the hundred or so upgrade options on there. Plus when the individual options are mixed around they can come up to thousands of different spec levels or variations.
Because of this, we have uploaded our most popular spec model. That's with 16GB (extra 8GB) and added 1TB 7200RPM HDD. So this adds $198 plus we have to account for the fees as well.
      Kris

      • +1

        Hey thanks for clarifying.

The only reason I picked on you, was I actually ordered a laptop from you last week and your name popped out at me while I was skimming the list. Can't wait to get my new laptop.

        • +1

No problemo :) Your order is shipping out tonight with delivery tomorrow. Thanks again.
          Kris

  • Any recommendations on monitors? Will be working from home time to time and will want it for gaming in the future. Deciding on either two 27' or an ultrawide.

    • +1

Get the ultrawide. It's great for working from home, and if the game supports it, same for gaming.

  • +1

I'll pre-order the GTX 1180. 8 more days to go!

    • +1

You mean the RTX 2080 … maybe.

  • +1

i have seen some really good deals with Hisense UHD tvs (esp 55N6 has been for 500+ early this year) early this year. But not lately! :( I'm lookout for a Hisense 50+ UHD LED deal, if anyone found pls let me know as well!

  • no more 25% off for eBay Plus members sucks

  • +5

Honest question: anyone know which (if any) of these sellers don't price jack??

    • +2

      keen to know too :)

    • +2

what do you call price jack? raising prices before an eBay sale or having prices higher on their eBay store than their website?

      From retailers I know:

dcxpert and Sony Australia don't raise prices during eBay sales

NO Frills, Ryda, Videopro Australia and Ted's Cameras don't raise prices during eBay sales. But they do have higher prices than their websites (always).

      • Someone above mentioned dcexpert raising some prices now. I thought Sony did too, tho their pricing is so high I don't often look unless they are in an ebay sale?

  • I thought ozbargain could put enough pressure to Ebay sellers not to price jack ? Maybe not …

  • Hoping to see s9 at around $800.

  • If a company price jacks, can I report them to ASIC?

    • +2

Why do you want to report them to a running shoe company??
      lolz

    • It might be tough. The company can claim that it’s an eBay promotion, not their promotion… therefore they aren’t engaging in deceptive behaviour.

  • How can I go about finding out whether any of these stores sell a RODE PSA1 easily?

    • Videopro seems to be the only seller that has it, it's currently $129 Delivered, $103.20 after the code. I'd imagine it would stay the same price.

  • -3

    Any ipad cellular deals?

  • +1

That's it! I'm changing my name to j0hn.

  • So anyone ever purchased a camera through amaysim? With no price jack it's $500 (unless its already been jacked) cheaper than Ted's and that's making me thirsty. Even ShoppingsquareAus price is better so I'm just wondering if that's cause it's a grey import or because you're basically throwing money in the bin?

  • +1

just searched my pc parts. all perfectly jacked 20%~30%(ryzen 2600, B350-i , and some G.skill)
ill just head to local store then…..

  • A search for "tv" comes up with very few results using the search link posted in the description. Maybe 6-8 results doesn't seem right from such a list of sellers…

  • hmm..mwave took down their listing of G.Skill Ripjaws V 16GB (2x 8GB) DDR4 3200MHz Memory at $289

  • +2

Serious question, why hasn't the ACCC clamped down on the price jacking? It makes the 20% off "misleading and deceptive" and is also in essence a bait and switch.

    • It comes to a point where these 20% sale are not considered a "SALE" anymore. Just a usual stuff!

  • SSD I wanted suddenly went 'out of stock'.

  • So its all off? What happened.

    • I don't know but if you find out hit reply here?

    • Butthurt pricejackers?

  • +5
  • any 3d printer experts have any opinion on the wanhao 3d printer duplicator 9? seems like good price with this deal

  • +2

    What the hell happened.

    • code is now live.. just not as many sellers.. and i think some of the sellers forgot to pricejack this time.. snatched a dji phantom 3 battery for one $55.2 from futu

  • Code is live.

Managed to get an Acer X34P for $1,316; despite the price jack it was still almost $200 cheaper than the nearest competitor (eBay or otherwise).

Also got a 512GB Samsung 970 Pro for $367, which also has a $75 cash back promotion atm.

  • +1

just letting anyone know that the code still works.. just bought a DJI Phantom 3 Intelligent Battery for $55.2 (20% off from $69) from Futu Online..
If anyone wants to make a post, go ahead.. its a decent price for something thats quite hard to get these days..

    cheers

    • Do we know the list of sellers? Is there a landing page?

      • Same page check the first comment of this thread for search link

        • Thanks. Wow, only a dozen odd sellers..

  • Well that's all a bit weird. Was waiting for the sale to get a $200 battery from Teds.

    Disappointed :(

  • So what actually happened to the sale?
