Dyson V10 Absolute Plus $799.20 + $50 Gift Card (C&C or + Delivery) @ David Jones (Payment via Afterpay Reqd)

740

If my math is correct, if you purchase the Dyson V10 Absolute+ off David Jones at $999. You can:

Take 20% off if paying with afterpay (save $199.8) = $799.2
Claim 10% cashback off $999 with cashrewards* (save $99.9) = $699.3
Get a $50 David Jones Giftcard as part of their special offer for buying a dyson product at 'fullprice'** (save $50) = $649.3

*On cashrewards David ones page, the terms and condition specifically states that cashback applies to afterpay purchases.

**Regarding the claiming of the Giftcard, it actually shows up in your cart at checkout. Even after I selected afterpay as my payment method, it remained there so I'm guessing you get it either way.

Enjoy, only a little less than 2 hours left to get it at this price. Don't think the V10 has gotten anywhere close to the legendary eBay deal a while back except for this. Let me know if I'm wrong.

This is part of Afterpay Day sale for 2018

  • I tried earlier today. Wouldn’t even give me afterpay as a choice at checkout

    • +1

The dj website is stuffed. I could only get all payment methods when I logged out and checked out as a guest with a different email account. This was last week so not in relation to AFTERpay. But when I was logged in I was confined to just my dj card. No other payment method was offered as option.

  • Looks quite promising!

The only thing I'm not certain about is whether or not you would get 10% cashback of the full price of the item ($99.90) or 10% cashback of the discounted item ($79.92).

Which is only about $20 difference, so not a major issue.

    • +1

Neither. Cash back is calculated off the pre-gst amount.

      • +1

correct.. Received cashback notification , $90.82

  • +1

Don't know if this will work
    But I love your thinking

  • +4

Please note… dont bother signing up to afterpay as a newbie.. the order wont be accepted. Total false advertising on their part as it makes it seem like anyone can just sign up and take advantage.

    • Really? How long does it usually take before you can actually start using it?

      • if the deal is only valid for another 2 hrs, probably not long enough

    • Too late :(

It appears that they will let you buy the bigger items after you have been with them for a while.

I now have Afterpay and don’t really want it!

      • +1

Pretty much the limit when you start is like 300 bucks.
The more you use it and make successful repayments the system allows higher amounts.
They should have that in fine print tbh.
        Bloody poor form.

        • :c

That sucks indeed. Well, hopefully at least some veteran afterpay users can make use of this deal.

  • As member of Entertainment Book or Reward Gateway, get 10% off DJ gift cards, what is the new math? Hmmm, seriously considering it.

    • You need to pay with Afterpay to get the 20% discount. You won't be able to use gift cards or any other form of payment.

    • Afterpay buddy

    • Take 10% off if paying with discounted giftcards (save $99.9) = $899.1
Claim 10% cashback off $999 with cashrewards assuming it is off full price (save $99.9) = $799.2
Get a $50 David Jones Giftcard as part of their special offer for buying a dyson product at 'fullprice' (save $50) = $749.2

Basically, a hundred bucks more than using afterpay.

And just before anyone has doubts about whether or not cashback will be paid on giftcard purchases on David Jones, in the T&C's on Cashreward's site on the DJ page "Cashback will be paid when Gift Cards are used as a payment method."

    • ~$550 assuming afterpay can accept DJ gift cards.

EDIT: sTon3r advised gift cards cannot be used with afterpay

  • +1

I will try and see myself if this works

  • +1

Used your logic, purchased 1, fingers crossed.

-Hope cashrewards tracks this sale as the icon on the browser (add-on) didn't go green , tried several times.
-Hope $50 gift card gets honoured
-Hope afterpay dont act funny tomorrow morning

Lots of 'hope' for one purchase !!

    • Pray for you bro! Don't forget, you can just make use of the 30 day money back guarantee from dyson if things don't go as planned!

        Hey dude

Just got cashreward confirmation for $90.82. Add to that $50 gift card.
        Total price $659.18
And the convenience of paying in 4 months of $200 instalments
        Win win !!

  • how will afterpay work with TRS?

    • I suppose so? you're getting a tax invoice either way. And when claiming TRS you get to provide another method to get paid back other than the one used to make the purchase.

    • +7

You're taking a vacuum cleaner overseas with you??

      • +1

As a gift should be fine.

  • +1

Thanks, picked one up. Let’s see how much cashrewards tracks tomorrow

  • +2

Hey I just purchased this with my debit card for $799 after my new afterpay sign up didn’t allow my purchase. I’ve got a confirmation page on the DJ website. Oh and that was through cash rewards and I saw $50 from DJ also on the confirmation. Heres hoping it worked 🙄

    • That's genius, I just did that too. Even if it doesn't turn out as planned, I guess I'll just claim it on the 30 day money back guarantee!

    • You mean it went through discount even though you didn't use afterpay?

      • +1

Well I have a confirmed price of $799 from DJ. I would say they would have to honor it. It has an order number there too. If they don’t I’ll call the bank to sort it out 😜

        • When I change payment method to something else it removes the discount? How did you use card at the discounted price?

Edit: just managed to do it. Cheers

        • +1

I would say they would have to honor it. It has an order number there too.

          Flawless logic.

        • Dude were you able to collect your Dyson ?

        • @Jabberwocky: I got mine with no issues. Gift Card also is being delivered, I can track mine on AusPost.

      • Exactly right ;)

  • +3

    No luck,

If you didn't have Afterpay account and spent before, this deal is not for you. I felt like I was tricked into creating AfterPay account

After showing discount price of $700 it asked me to create afterpay account, and after creating the account it says:

    "Sorry,
Unfortunately we can't approve this order because your order amount or your total outstanding Afterpay balance is too high.
    What can I do?

You can either try reducing this order value or log in to your Afterpay account and pay off some of your outstanding payments. However, we can't guarantee your next order will be approved.
Can you just tell me what my account limit is?

Afterpay does not have fixed account limits. We assess every order as it is placed. The longer you have a positive on-time repayment history with Afterpay, the more you will be able to spend.
    "

  • +1

Ok so I just did the afterpay thing and it declined, THEN i went and entered my card and it actually still took off the discount. $799.20 with a $50 gift card.
Hopefully they still put it through.

  • +4

    Guys…. You're paying $700 for a vacuum cleaner.

    • +2

      $659.1 :)
But agree with you…This is the age of 'madness' !

    • Yep, get a 10 pack of cordless tools for similar price, most of them a lot more robust than this piece of rubbish. Dyson is the new Apple.

      • At $700 I expect it to be made out of super lightweight carbon fiber instead of the silly abs plastics.
I have a v6 and v8, both fit and finish is rubbish for such high price item. It fits loosey goosey, whole unit from the handle to the power brush wobbles. Having said that, their products do work but they are not designed to last.

Apple pay attention to detail and finish. So no Dyson is not new Apple.

        • I've got a Dyson standup vacuum that's close to 20 years old now. Had it serviced a few years ago and it's like new.

  • The maths is totally wrong.

I didn't post because afterpay won't work for first time users on a $799 item so it's basically an unobtainable deal.

If it worked the maths would be:
    999x0.8=799.20 on your credit card
799.20/1.1x0.1=72.65 cash rewards (to exclude GST, which cashback is not paid on)
    =$726.55+$50 gift card

A ripper deal if afterpay hadn't mucked it up royally. They really should be ashamed of themselves with how they handled this promotion for new users

    • Just got cashreward confirmation for $90.82. Add to that $50 gift card.
      Total price $659.18
And the convenience of paying in 4 months of $200 instalments
      Win win !!

  • It's still working and you don't need an Afterpay account to get the discounted price

    • +1

How do you get it for $659 without afferpay?

      • Select Afterpay and then cancel Afterpay and pay by card and the discount remains

    • Are you sure? It doesn't seem to be working for me…

      • ^ but it took me a few goes

    • Says $999 for me, how did you get it to work?

      • ^ but it took me a few goes

        • Do you just click after pay and then cancel and the 20% is reflected in total? I’ve tried a handful of times..no update

        • @PeterN:
When you click AfterPay it shows the 20% discount, then click proceed with payment (or whatever it says) and then when AfterPay asks you to log in just hit the X to go back to the checkout page and the discount will remain. Don't click anything else just fill in your credit card details and hit proceed (or whatever it says)

        • @jamestownfx: I’ve been trying that and unfortunately doesn’t work!!!!

  • +1

Thought I made a rookie error and not use cash rewards. Got an email from them confirming the 90.82.
Makes this deal even sweeter and I didn't even use afterpay

    • Waiting for my cashrewards email. The extra $90.82 makes this deal!

      • Bloody oath, over all a 35% saving.
And just last week I got an LG 65 C8 OLED for 4099.
        The bargains are definitely flowing!

  • -3

Wow $800 for a cordless tool is a bargain? Can buy a whole bunch of cordless power tools for the price. Dyson have people sucked in for sure.

    • +1

These suckers don’t even get a free blower by redemption!

    • Are you comparing a cordless vacuum with a vague array of other cordless tools? right…….

  • Just a quick update. Tried the Afterpay option but as I was new to Afterpay, it kept rejecting my order. Ended up buying with my credit card as the $199 discount still showed up. Got an order confirmation from DJ and Cashrewards.
Just got an update from DJ saying they cancelled the order. No reason given though.

    • When did u buy? I'm getting worried now….

    • Interesting, I used the same method and I just got an email saying it's ready for collection

      • I chose delivery option. On the invoice it says I can track my order at the site. When I go to my account and orders, nothing shows up.

    • I also had this email. Currently on hold for over 20 minutes trying to work out why it was cancelled. My call has progressed in the cue over 100 times, DJs must be scrapping a lot of orders. Will update with more information when I know.

  • I ordered it just before the deal ended last night but chose for it to be delivered and not picked up. That may have been my mistake.

    • Yeah I'm thinking I should've picked up as well

      • Nah mine was a click and collect order and it was cancelled

        • I mean make it a click & collect and pick it up straight away, that way it's in your hands before they have cancelled..

  • +2

Well I just picked up my V10 absolute plus from DJ’s. Paid $799 got $90.82 cashback from Cashrewards and DJ’s have confirmed my $50 gift card is on its way! Bloody good deal I reckon. Thanks to the OP.

    • no worries, I just picked mine up too!

  • Update:
I just spoke to DJ to find out why the order was cancelled, according to them it was a computer error. They offered to match the original price but only if I used afterpay which was the reason I couldn't place the order as I had only just joined and the order value was too high.
Appreciated that DJ did at least try to help.

    • +1

Who did you speak to in order to get this? The CSR that I spoke to couldn't do anything and had to escalate my case. Not holding out much hope.

      • Unfortunately I can't remember her name but she kept putting me on hold so that she could ask her manager what they could do. In the end all she could do was add a note to my account to say they would honor the $799 so long as I placed the order using afterpay.

  • Got my confirmation from DJ this morning and just picked it up.
    Purchased using Afterpay

DJ guy in electricals confirmed that ppl are getting their orders cancelled who got discount but didn’t use afterpay

Interesting to see how many ppl get this deal whilst not paying via Afterpay

    • Seems like people who picked theirs up in store early enough managed to get it

      • I think that’s where I got lucky. Went there before they had started the online orders. I asked about mine at customer service and they processed it through.

  • To be honest they should honour the deal still anyway as the deal was misleading anyway regarding afterpay and new customers.

  • My order status is showing “at dispatch” - I did select delivery. Haven’t received any email saying it’s been processed or cancelled. I payed via afterpay though so hopefully it all goes ok.

  • I got an email from them asking me to contact them to confirm some details before they finalize my order… I can only think they're going to end up cancelling it. BUT I will see tomorrow when I ring them.

  • +1

My order is now confirmed and in dispatch. This was paying by credit card too. Guess mine slipped through.

    • grats bud, hope you receive and enjoy it soon. I had to take mine back to DJ today cuz I found a dent on the wand… They switched it over without any questions cuz apparently it's a bit of a known issue

  • Anybody else’s gift card has an expiry of September 2018?

    • +1

They're promo gift cards, they usually have a short expiry date.

      • I thought gift cards didn't have expiry these days because people can't be responsible.

        • Most normal gift cards expire after three years. JB Hi-Fi expire after 99 years. As I have mentioned, these are promotional i.e. not normal gift cards with a short expiry date.

        • @kerfuffle: all good. Doesn't actually bother me.
