Early Christmas Present? Fathers Day gift?

The fad is grinding to a halt…

might be better off buying dad a retro pi ….at least it can be reused later.

You know JV is serious when he doesn't use any bold lettering.

These AT games units are all absolute crap. Sound is completely wrong, emulation is buggy and the AV cable promises a crap picture and scaling issues.

Purchased the real deal back in the early 1990's from none other than the Gamesmen when nothing else was cooler! Pretty sure the decimal place in the price tag was moved a spot too - $649.50 sounds about right! + inflation of course! That was back in the day though when it new and amazing. Wouldn't touch this version though. Not sure who this version is aimed at. Buying an original era version from eBay is what one would want if they wanted nostalgia.

    • Don't forget the amount of money ppl paid for game cartridges. To even dream of having 81 games to play with your friends

    • great for people in australia in juvenile detention…… let’s them know that is all the entertainment they get if they reoffend …. no xbox, ps4 or internet just this.

  • No HDMI, just "AV" cable?

  • At least you get two controllers. Some of the other retro offerings only give you one.

  • You would need to hook this up to a screen that is 20" - 32".
I have the Nintendo version of this and cant play it on the 55". The pixels are the size of my palm.
    Good fun nonetheless!

  • Or just add the roms to the SNES Classic.

  • I saw this at big W QV Melbourne for $49 last week. Must not be nationwide, as big W site says $79

  • I got all nostalgic last night and bought Golden Axe and Sonic the Hedgehog on Steam last night.

Man those games were tough and the whole, three lives and you are done thing was quite brutal.

How on earth did we finish these games in the past?

  • Check out Big-W. I was in Big-W QV (Melbourne CBD) Thursday last week and I believe they had it for $50. Not sure if it's still available

  • these are shit, i think Sega is going to license a better company to make ones that are just as good as the nintendo ones. Neo Geo ones have been released in Japan and will be out soon.

  • Agree with last commenter, the build quality on this things is awful, some of the games display weird artifacts and slowdown.

What about the controllers? I mean, I have my old Megadrive 2 - but the controllers are starting to show their age (I actually play it..)

$65 for 2 decent controllers wouldn't be a terrible price? If they have the same plugs & are of decent quality/work well?
