Asus VivoMini UN45H Intel Celeron N3150 Barebones PC - $129 @ UMART [Free Pickup]

90

RAM, storage (either 2.5” or M.2) and OS required.

Bunch of USB3.0 ports and 1000Mbs Ethernet gives this potential to be used as a home server imo. Or give it to some you hate to you as their main PC.

Anyway, as always, not my first post, feel free to tell me the deal or I suck.

  • feel free to tell me the deal or I suck.

    You suck

    • At least OP's grammar doesn't!

Me or the deal sucks instead of the deal or I suck is one of my pet peeves.

  • Only $10 off RRP?

    • No. $10 off the last price rededuction. From googling, rrp was around $250.

      • 10 off the last price rededuction. From googling, rrp was around $250.

We can choose either "$10 price deduction" or "$10 price reduction", not both.

  • Came for the 1000GB Network, wasn't disappointed, specs don't lie - LAN 10/100/1000/Gigabits Mbps

    • NBN just doesn't get a break does it….how can it ever catch-up

      • 1gbps internet isn't even that good tbh.

    • Came for the 1000GB Network,

      Ditto -
"According to Tech Times, 1 Tbps translates to downloading the entire Game of Thrones series in just one second, and all in HD. "

      • Nevermind me……

    • My bad.

  • Does this have hdmi 2.0?

    • Don’t think so.

      • Nope….not your bad…it actually mentions it in the specs
        1000 gigabyte megabit per second…that's a lot!

Crap…posted the wrong thread…my bad then

  • Asus version of nuc. Tho it's only celeron which is similar price

    • I haven’t found a NUC at a similar price?

      • I only paid $115 for my celeron nuc. But wouldn't use them for anything tasking like Windows. Only good for media player or retro games

        • Where from? Sounds like a bargain.

        • @PainToad: was a while ago I also have the i5 nuc so celeron doesn't get use now as mi box are slightly better

  • Perfect for OpenElec, the dedicated Kodi OS that's leaps and bounds better than say what you install on an Android box.
It's an older gen Atom so it's not a CPU powerhouse by any means, but fine for the money, I just wouldn't try and do desktop tasks on it.

As for the OP's idea of home server, I'm sure it will suit some peoples minimal requirements but we have very different ideas of a home server.
Just in the middle of updating my server to a 10 core HP machine with 64GB ram…..lol

    • +1

but we have very different ideas of a home server.

SAMBA, Sonarr, rTorrent and NZBGet. What else do you need?

    • For KODI, you can get an ARM box with RAM and flash for much less.
Also, I don't think this does hdmi 2.0, if that matters.

updating my server to a 10 core HP machine with 64GB ram

Does your home first-aid kit include an operating theatre?

    • Sure, I've spent time on /r/homelab, /r/homeserver and /r/datahoarder, but I'm still curious as to what you'd need that for. For context, my current home server is a NUC i5 running a bunch of stuff in docker (oh and a HP Microserver full of media).
