    • Should have posted it

It was posted yesterday for $109 at the Good Guys. The price dropped to $98 after you applied a 10% discount code which I believe was applicable yesterday only.

  • What does the recording cost after 30 days?

      • And that's what I hate about these Ring Doorbells. You can't store locally, they lock it all up so if you want video storage you have to pay a monthly fee.

I'd otherwise be very happy to hand over my cash for this. Forcing customers onto a subscription is poor form :(.

        • I think it was possible to store locally using a Pi. Might of misread the article tho but worth checking out

        • While it sucks that there is paid subscription for this device, there is also the free version of it.

The only real difference I can see from the cheapest subscription plan is that you cannot save videos or review them at a later time. For some, that may be worth the yearly subscription. For me, I just want to see if it’s arsehole salesman or family that I need to avoid answering the door for…

        • @Dezeption: Do you have a link? Most of the past solutions I've seen to save video locally have been blocked by their firmware updates (largely proving that it is just to milk the customers of money, not that it's something that's not possible).

  • Watch over your home in HD video

Meaning watch over the area in front of your front door.

Try Alfred - https://alfred.camera/ and an old iphone or ipad - does the same thing for free!

  • Does this screw to frame of door or stick on?being in a rental I can't really screw holes into door frame, I take can Bev used with batteries.

    • It's meant to screw on, but you could mount it with some strong double sided tape - I did so to check positioning and such and it held quite well, though it wasn't for an extended period of time.

  • $53 for the unit if you want it to chime in the house.

  • Strongly recommend I have 2 getting a 3rd

  • Just need something to review missed visitors to know say if I missed a package or maybe guest trying to visit the house.

Don't honestly need 30 day backup but I mean being able to view a few days would be nice or at least missed bells.

PC/Android would also be nice and I like how this has the option to be battery powered as I don't want to mess with any internal wires or lines.
