Reasonable reviews for a $99 phone for the kids or dog with its IP67 rating

there's only 1GB of RAM,. Also disappointing is the lack of internal storage space. Only a paltry 4GB is available for user data. Luckily there's a MicroSD card slot to store your stuff on. (PC Authority review)

You will go crazy with 1gig ram waiting for it to load your apps and you won't store many with 4gig storage.

    • not for me dude, for the groms

    • Yup. And this isn't even running Android Go. With that name, I thought it was.

    there's only 1GB of RAM

Even 2GB of RAM isn't enough anymore.
Not a deal as this thing isn't suitable to be called a phone.

Two is more than enough for the average user. The iPhone 6 shipped with 1GB of RAM and the damn thing was "on sale" for 380 on here just the other day. Hell, the 5S before it still runs the latest version of iOS too.

Yes, iOS is different and better optimized considering it's designed for only a handful of devices, I know.

Did you know that you can disable pretty much anything that isn't essential to the core experience of the phone, in order to make it run better? I have an LG L40 I got for 9 bucks a while back, uninstalled everything on there except Chrome and ABC iView, in addition to the core features (phone, text, camera, etc.) and it runs pretty damn smooth, streaming videos and running multiple tabs…all with only HALF a gig of RAM.

It's all about how you use it. And if I can get that much out of half a gig, a full gig will be more than enough for the average user.

That being said, 220 for this pile of shit is a (profanity) joke and a half.

If you insert a sim, and make calls. Its a phone.

You mean to tell me you can make calls on these mobile phones? What whizbangery is this? I thought they where just for surfing the web, watching yt videos and paying for stuff.

        Mind blown

Acknowledge, its not a very good smart phone, but will make a reasonable phone, so horses for courses. My kids spend alot of time outside, beach, dam, paddock so the phones get knocked around. They have trashed good phones and gamed until their eyes have failed. i'm happy to have an IP rated phone, that is crap for everything else. The kids have laptops and tablets for gaming, apps etc. Plus I don't give them much data allotment

      will make a reasonable phone

BigW will get rid of garbage, just the OS will use most of the RAM plus you'll have tonnes of applications working in background.
I already see your kids complaining because the phone doesn't work.

Yeh, nah, young grasshopper…not a biggy, they are using some old phones ATM as I refused to replace the ones they busted. So in real terms they are upgrading from an Incredible S and a Y550, with cracked screens etc. Spose I'm lucky living in the bush, we prefer to spend our cash on MTB, surf craft, tractors and life outside the Google/You Tube/FB Architecture.
We use other hardware for computing, automation, coding i.e. Arduino, Puck ES so we get our tech fix

  • Why do people make excuses for crap that isn't really a bargain anyway….

    • Yeah, this is a much more appropriate price - maybe $150 at launch.

Two years ago when it was released, it was a sub-$300 phone, I don't remember if it was $250 or $299, but much more than it was worth. I ended up getting my brother the J1 mini because that was the only thing that had a small screen with the recent OS.

  • Can't even open a few chrome tabs with 1GB :(
