Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus 64GB $999 (Coral Blue Only) @ Umart Australia - Father's Day Sale

150

Thought this looked a very decent price. There is a umart store 5 minutes down the road from me which has stock (Milton, Brisbane). However, I can't see confirmation if this is AU stock or not? Others may be more expert at determining these things. I also cannot see the date when this expires anywhere on the website.

Anyway I think it might be a price error because they state that this is only $10 off, with a RRP of $1009, which is clearly not right.

This is part of Father's Day deals for 2018.

    This was brought up on Whirlpool. I sent UMart and email seeking clarification about whether these are Australia stock or overseas (the model number is odd). Here’s the response I got;

I'm sorry but we do not stock Android phones.
    Regards,

    Sales Team

    Umart

I sent a follow up email wanting to clarify their response, because they have 5 different Android phones currently listed on their website. I included the hyperlink to their own web page listing phones. They did not reply to this email.

that would probably indicate they're from overseas

Lol woah, it seems they don't know what models they are selling.

Sales Team deserves some sort of prize for this response.

Pretty sure it’s Aus stock. As far as I know they use the same distributors as other retailers.

I was in JB Hifi yesterday and they said that they can do the S9 for $1079. Use the 5% off Woolworths egift cards and then buy JB Hifi vouchers to get it for $1025 from a much more reputable dealer.

It appears that many stores are no longer allowing this due to a new update in their system. Best to check with a lower value gift card first to test if this still works at your local Woolies.

In which case you can use the Entertainment book if you have one. Or an RACQ or Youi insurance policy.

Funnily enough that $1025 is the same quote I got today from officeworks to beat mobileciti who have the S9 for $1079.

And, just because I enjoy showing up the JB Hi Fi staff for the clowns that they are, I asked what their best price was on the S9 and almost let the guy think I was as stupid as he thought I was, before I whipped out the above quote, and he had nothing.

Are JB Hi Fi workers worse than real estate agents? I think it's close.

I wouldn't blame the Staff more so JB's "Cost" or "Actual cost price" that gives the staff F all power for this kind of stuff and that since buying out The Good Guys are trying to squeeze every cent out for the Shareholders, So by JB reducing the "Cost Price" and I would say that price of $1025 is cheaper than a JB employee buying it themselves. Hence I left after JB bought out The Good Guys as my commission in TV sales literally went out the window!

This is S9 PLUS though, big difference in price.

I doubt any JB Hifi stores could give you $250 discount because you asked.

12 months warranty screams out grey import. AU stock usually comes with 24 month manufacturer (Samsung Au) warranty.

    • But it's the exact same model number, SM-G965FZBAXSA-ON, as Centrecom (which as far as I know stocks Australian stock).

Every time you buy a phone from Umart they spin a wheel on whether you get a grey import or Aus model be careful guys

Could we get Office works to price beat to $949.05? ;D

  • That $10 off appears on every single product on their website - it's their fake way of showing a discount.

However, the weird thing about this product is it doesn't show if you just select mobile phones - it only shows the S9 not the S9 plus. You can only see the S9 plus by using that direct link on here.

    • I think it's also a sort of online order discount to discourage you from trying to buy anything in store.

  • No longer in stock, but you can “pre order” with no delivery date. This, combined with the strange model number, and U-Mart customer service telling me that they don’t stock any Android phones, makes me not want to take the gamble. If it’s Aussie stock, excellent price (if/when you receive it), but if it’s grey, it’s not a good price.

Ok, just got a new email from U-Mart:

    Good Morning,

I do apologise, we do stock these. All of our stock is from Australian suppliers.
    Regards,

But now they’re on back order, with no ETA. Still, great price for Australia stock.

    • Any chance you could please provide a screenshot? :)

    Hi everyone,

Just wanted to clarify that ALL our stock are from Australian suppliers. We've don't have anything listed on our site that are Grey Imports which includes Apple products, Beats, Audio Technica and Samsung.

This is a common misconception that we're trying to fight against as this has become more apparent to us in which we'll be addressing in the near future.

    Cheers,

    Umart Buddy

Thanks for clarifying, it’s a shame this has now gone up to $1400. Not sure if you saw my post above, but when I first contacted Umart by email wanting to clarify whether stock was Australian or overseas, the response I got was that Umart don’t sell Android phones (I still have the email). I don’t know who from Umart composed that email, but that’s was a terrible response.
