Woolworths Weekly Specials Feb 23 - Mar 1

370

110 specials from Woolworths this week, which include the usual suspects of soft drink, prawns and Raid, and a new "3 for" specials strategy. I've read in the comments before people getting cranky at the 2 for buys, but this week Woolworths has taken it to another level with this "3 for" special. Coca-Cola Varieties 24 x 375ml, 3 for $42. That's 72 cans of drink in a single transaction. That would basically fill a trolley with no room for any other shopping, bit ridiculous if you ask me. Wonder when they're going to start selling by the pallet? Have a top week everyone!

  • Green King Prawns have gone UP, why is that a special ???

my mistake, last week they were green banana prawns…

    • +11

last week they were green banana prawns…

No, sadly those expensive banana shaped things you saw were bananas! :(

      • Hahaha, good one.

But if prawns were that big, they would be a bargain. :)

        • You can get them nearly that big in Indonesia! :o

They're awesome, massive freshwater things that go lobster red when you cook them…OMG I'm drooling now! :)

      • hehehee, brilliant

  • grrr another week of shitty specials. Stuff buying 3 cases of coke for $42 as well, that isn't even cheap! In that quantity it should work out to about 40-45cents a can..

    • +11

think of how much money you could save if you didn't buy the stuff at all. period.

      • +4

        He sells it…

    • coles is doing 2 for $28 tomorrow. how to they always manage to come up with identical pricing?

    • +1

@nubzy We are in 2011 not in 1994. There is no such thing as coke cans for 40 cents! I buy PALLETS of cans (business) and I'm paying a little over 50cents a can!

    • $42 / 3 / 24 = $0.583/can

How'd end up getting 40 cents?

      • He said SHOULD. The point is if you're buying that much coke in 1 go, the discount per can should be greater. Ie, needing to buy 72 cans should make them a lot cheaper.

  • i find it interesting how up and go has been on sale so much lately. bouncing from coles to woolies back to coles for $2 for 3. now its finally gone back up. glad i stocked up when i did!

    • indeed, $1.99 for 3 to $2.50 for 3.

last time I got enough to last close to 2 months, this still isn't bad though IF it's not going to go back down again

  • Not much food specials there:(

    • no, mainly junk food specials

  • OMG they have the Four N Twenty angus beef pies on special. The cheese and bacon ones are the best tasting frozen pies I've ever had. Getting about 10 packs (5.45 each save $1.54).

    • I agree, it's the only frozen pie I don't mind eating! I bought some a few days back - it was 2 for $10 at my local Woolies.

      • Just realized that these pies are also on special at coles for cheaper. $5 a pack.

  • dont trust supermarket pies, dont know whats in em.

    • +1

the ingredients are on the packet…

      • … but thats the problem … isnt it almost as bad as reading a cigarette packet? ;)

      • yes but not specific parts and types of animal.. there have been camul lips and anuses found in there. I like to go to local bakery which uses prime quality cuts of steak and never found gristle or questionable meat in them before.
as the guy above said it is like the cigarette packs. they might just say 'tobacco' on there, but there are thousands of other crap in them unless you buy natural additive free cigs like Nat Shermans or American Spirit.

        • +3

I like to go to local bakery which uses prime quality cuts of steak

how do you know what they use ?

        • +4

LOL - my local bakery probably uses rats, cats and dogs knowing the people who own and run it.

I'd trust something sold in Woolworths nationally far more than in a single suburban bakery

        • +1

there have been camul lips and anuses found in there

LOL, you crack me up nubzy! :)

I've gotta ask though…were they full pouty lips & hole anuses??? :p

        • +1

A good anus always goes down well.

      • Sorry about neg meant to + Silly iPad.

    •

  • Many thanks for the list.

  • Thanks for the specials!!!

  • Okay in regards to the New level 3 for being NEW this is utter crap….

There has never been a standard amount that woolworths have used.

There has been 2 for, 3 for Coke (18s for $30)

    There has been 4 / 5 2lt Coke for $10

    There has been 6 / 10 Tuna for $6 / $10

so the amount u have to buy has always not changed or is new

    • all the 2/3/4/n for specials are bs marketing gimmicks anyway.

    • +1

True, there have been plenty of "3 for" specials before, but not of this size in terms of total units sold. Most of them have been single item products, like bags of chips or tins of tuna.

The only other time this number of total units have been sold in a single transaction was by Coles back in May 2010 when they did the same deal, 24x375ml x 3 for $45. Similar large per units sold sale items have been 18x375ml x 3 by Woolworths in February, July, August and November for $33, $30, $30 and $30 respectively (total 54 units)

This Coke deal is way above those stats in both price and volume.

This equals the record of units sold in a single transaction. I wonder how long before it'll be 24x375ml x 4?

  • Coles started 3-for specials ages ago.

    • i think they also started the regular 1/2 price specials as well.

      • Yeah, I wasn't clear in the point I was trying to make, it's the size of the special I was trying to highlight. shrugs I edited the original post ;)

        • I appreciate your grocery observations moreso than the meagre pickings at WW. Keep up the good work.

  • crap specials and win win gimmick. coles gets my business again this week.

  • What a lousy week. The only things I might buy are some marinara mix for making pasta and some bottles of Preppie. But thanks for posting, so +ed you.

  • Re: Raid Auto Indoor Insect Control System. Why would anyone put poison like this into a small space like a car?
I am driving in Australia since 22 years and never had an "Insect Problem" in my car. Isn't the exhaust of the cars around you enough?

    • +3

Don't think its supposed to be installed in cars. The "Auto" is for automatic, ie. periodic sprays, not automobile.

  • The Weight Watchers deal is pretty good value. A healthy meal for under $4

  • Joondalup Woolworths, WA, has been selling 30 pack coke for $16.50 and 18 pack for $9.90 = 55 cents each for almost 2 weeks already. (This offer is not in catalog)

  • Needed more washing powder, this makes the decision easy. Thanks ;)

BTW those of you looking for diabetes in a can, the 2nd grade soft drinks, Pepsi Max & Solo are 50c per can at Big dubs.
