[Hack] 2 Months of Coles Plus Saver Benefits for The Price of 1 Month - $7 @ Coles

1140

Not sure if this is considered a “hack”, but I’ve been doing this lately.

Start Cole’s plus offer mid month, get the 10% offer to use straight away and also get the 10% offer next month when the next month starts. Then cancel as soon as you use the 10% offer next month. Getting 2 x 10% for $7.

By doing this you effectively get the best part of Cole’s plus saver 2 months for the price of 1.

Rinse and repeat on 3rd month.

  • Does the discount activate immediately so you can sign up just before checking out?

    • +43

Please god don’t let me be the guy behind abc in line.

    • I’ve done it same day, but not 1 minute before check out…..

    • I buy discounted giftcards before checkout.

I’ve also signed up to Everyday Extra before checkout and obtained the discount immidiately haha.

    • Yep it does for online orders

  • +3

Can you cancel straight away and still get the full month?

    • +2

      Yes

      • is the full month by days or. date to date like, activated 15th sept, ends on 15th oct? or 14th ?

        • +1

I think it is 15th to 14th but what difference does an extra day make? It will tell you when you sign up and when your last day is after you cancel.

        • Mine is based on calendar month. So I assume if you signed up and used the discount on Sept 30, you could then use a new one the next day on Oct 1.

    • +3

Also works (or used to work) with Amazon Prime. Sign up, use the benefits (ie. free shipping or watch a movie), cancel same day and get a refund for prime membership fee.
Possible they've closed the loophole though - I haven't tried for a while.

      • +1

Still works, i believe it's a psychological tactic so that the customer feels a sense of control and is more likely to use it

      • +1

So using free shipping on the same day isn't considerred benefit used?

        • +1

Bizarrely for Amazon, it's more likely a system issue where the usage isn't reflected on your account before you cancel.

  • Is this because the discounts are per calendar month and not per billing month?

  • Of course, this is a bit of a hack, and many people have been doing it for months. I’m sure there are OzBargain members who are Coles staff at all levels. Soon, they’ll likely change this to a 30-day cycle for 10% off, rather than offering it monthly. I liked this post, though, because, well, everything eventually comes to an end.

    • +7

      Are you ok?

    • +1

Yeah shit like this should only be allowed on ozbargain premium where you have to prove you don’t work for Coles to join.

      • -5

Or just keep it to yourself and enjoy forever … like i do now when i discover a hack

        • -1

That’s called the “F you got mine” culture

    • +2

This is why I've never shared this hack. If it's used too much, or the wrong person sees this post and the Coles' people in charge of this become aware, the loophole will be fixed.

      • That’s why I hesitate in posting too,,
Safer shared in the comments than a dedicated post
It’s the way I found out from other users

      • +1

Surely this would only be ruined by a Coles employee who likes working for Coles?
        Does such a person exist?
Otherwise, disenchanted employees would revel in the fact that the employer that's screwing them is in turn getting screwed.

        • +2

Happens all the time someone thinks they’re. A corporate hero and will get a pat on the back

    • +1

As long as people spend money at them every month, this is very little compared their 10% profit margin. The real victims are those who walk in the shop and pay for full prices without any flybuy and this.

    • +1

The number of people doing this must be incredibly small that they wouldn't even care…

If they can get those incredibly price-conscious customers to shop at Coles, then that's probably a net win for them.

  • +4

Anyone who takes part in the 4 week offer should be doing this (as long the 4 weeks span two calendar months, which will be the case almost all of the time), because even at the lowest level of $50, instead of paying $200 for $250 of groceries you can pay $207 for $261.12 of groceries.

Don't forget to take 2c rounding off if a cash self-checkout is free

    • ?? That makes no sense to me whatsover.

Isn't this offer 10% per shop, max $50 discount?

    • +1

Instead of spending $500+$500+$7+$7 to save $100… This hack lets you spend $500+$500+$7.

Saving you a total of $42 per year.

Edit - you get double flybuy points. So, 12 X 1,000 points = another $60 per year. Total $102.

Or maybe I'm missing something obvious. Lol

    • which week of the months do those quests usually start ? https://help.flybuys.com.au/hc/en-gb/articles/9103595394447-…

I am unworthy to be at the same OzBargainer level

  • I wondered exactly the same and I just signed up and used this month’s one and was going to cancel after using the next one. I am glad now I got the answer.

  • +1

Useful to know, I am going to try.
Does anyone offer discounted Coles cards?

For Woolworths- you can get 4% off through BUPA , or 5% off if you have a seniors card.

    • Macquarie Marketplace offers 3.5% off Coles cards

    • There's also 3% off Category Choice now or look out for Special Gift Cards CB offers that seem to come around every so often.

  • +1

Has anyone tried resubscribing in the second month after the plan expired? Will I get to another 10 per cent discount in that month?

    • +5

No, not for the second month. You need to resubscribe in the third month, and then the third and fourth months will be covered. This way, for $42, you can get 10% off for all the months instead of paying their annual subscription fee of $70.

      • Got it. I only wondered because quite often we need to shop twice in a month, so I thought we could pay the fee every month but get two discounts. I guess it is strictly once a calendar month, regardless of cancelling and resubscribing in the middle of the month.

        • +4

          sign up for 2 accounts?

  • Just be aware that the the 10% is not instant at time of subscribing from my experience.

    • +8

It is, I had to quit my full time job to take advantage of it.

      So it's not for everyone.

  • I do this with Woolies too

    • Two supermarkets at the same time?

If I had a million dollars, that's what I'd do.

    • what tier of woolies is equivalent and price

    • In my experience with Everyday Extra they didn't send any point offers while subscribed. Took quite a while after subs had finished before offers reinstated (YMMV).
I wonder if this one can lead to a similar outcome.

    • I don't it works with woolies are you taking about online instore

  • +2

Just signed up and the 10% discount was available instantly

  • What can one do on the last day of subscription?

Can you order a $50 delivery for a week's time with no fees?

Do flybuys points offers and coupon codes apply if the delivery is after the date of the subscription ending?

Do those "spend X for Y weeks to get Z points" cease to work if e.g. the last delivery occurs after subscription expiry?

  • If I need to spend $200 for bonus points, and I apply the 10% off, do I still get the bonus points for only paying $180?

    • +1

      Yes

Only thing you need to consider is if you have a CommBank Yello offer. That final spend amount needs to be at or larger than what the offer stipulates.

  • Been doing this a while on my mum's account but for Woolworths whilst waiting for the $35 for a year offer.

It also doesn't work if the last week of the month has a good discounts which it often does. lol.

  • -1

    Is it worth it?

  • I cancelled my membership last week but it state I can still use my membership benefits until 27th Oct. I tried to buy groceries and selected 1st Nov and the 10% prompt didn't show.

I guess this hack has been patched or do I have to cancel my membership AFTER the 2nd month 10% offer?

My member area state "Your next discount will appear on 1 November 2025.", so I assume again, people can't advance shop for groceries anymore for the next month 10%?

Because, previously I was able to use next months 10% if I selected the 1st onwards and do an advance shop.
