Increased Call Credit ($500) on Kids Mini Mobile Prepaid ($9.95 Per 30 Days) @ OVO

13

Received an email from OVO to advise that their mini plan now has $500 calling credit. Previously was $200. Existing customers can upgrade..no strings I think. Possibly upgrade option comes up closer to renewal date.

  • Can the credits be used for premium calls and sms?

    • Plan has unlimited standard SMS. Not sure of premium calls. Not for international calls

You get a $500 calling allowance for you to make standard calls in Australia including calls to voicemail, 13 / 1300 and 1800 numbers. Calls are charged at 99c per minute with a 40c connection fee for each call. If you run out of calling credit you can buy OVO Extras. Below excluded from allowance,
      • International calls
      • Roaming overseas
      • SMS or MMS to overseas numbers
      • Calls or premium SMS to 19 numbers
      • Calls to directory assistance

  • Plan has unlimited standard SMS. Not sure of premium calls. Not for international calls

I thing the Belong $10/mth plan is better:
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/375756
Unlimited calls/text; 1GB data and unused data rolls over indefinately

Also, Belong use Telstra whilst OVO use Optus. YMMV but I'd take Telstra over Optus (have used both networks over the past couple of years). Both my wife are on Belong.

Both your wifes? Are you a bigamist? Are you crazy to have two wives, as if one is not enough already? ;-)

    • I was going to get Belong for my parents but thinking maybe $15 ALDI better?

Belong has the great data banking going for it and cheaper price, but sounds like awful customer service. Any suggestions either way?

    amaysim also have $10 plan.

Unlimited national calls and TXT with 1GB data. Valid 28days optus network same as OVO.

So I do not think this is a good deal.

      Jenee mobile kills it.
      Unlimited calls + 1.2gb data per month (12 month contract) - $8.91p/m
      Unlimited calls + 1gb data p/m (1 month contract) - $9.95p/m

      • I was excited, but found out there's a $12.37 setup fee

Plenty of other providers that are cheaper or same price with unlimited calls. Not really good value.

So $9.95 of credit with some convoluted smoke and mirror billing calculation aimed at nothing other than opacity and bamboozlement.

Thank you though OP, all contributions are appreciated.

so if I make say 5 x 5min calls everyday
    5 x $0.40 + 5 x 5 x $0.99 = $26.75/day = $808.5/30days

So I'd go over my limit on day 19.
Sorry Op, but this is a terrible deal.

Hey OVO, 2013 called and they want their plan back.

  • I must be living in the past..didn't know of all these other $10 plans. :)

  • The other benefit of this plan is that you get Family Zone - where you can restrict apps and filters websites. We use this plan for our 12 year old

    • Not really as Jeenee is not only cheaper with unlimited calls but also includes this feature.
