Good price but you can get it from Amazon for around $56 delivered after 10% cashrewards

    • Does Cashrewards work on pre-orders on Amazon though?
So today it's 10% on cashrewards but might be different on 7/9 when the game is released. Is the cashback based on the percentage today or when the game actually comes out?

      • +1

Ye it does. Tracked it perfectly.

      • Cashrewards worked for me too via Amazon. Got $5.70 back!

  • Waiting for Amazon to match.

    • You would be waiting for a while as their price is lower than original price of Gamesmen.

    • +1

Don't think Amazon will match as this price is only obtainable after a discount code.

      • +1

True, BUT they did match the post-coupon code price from a few days ago.

      • +1

They did exactly that just yesterday: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/399832

Gamesmen price yesterday (AFTER discount code) was $62.70, which Amazon immediately matched within an hour or two.

This deal itself exists simply because the Gamesmen are trying to counter Amazon who had already matched them yesterday.

Hopefully for us they get into a bit of a pricematch war.

  • Bit the bullet and bought this one, despite having it ordered for 69 at EB.

    Either way, I win.

If Gamesmen turn out to not deliver day one, I've got my EB copy to play day one.

When I have the Gamesmen copy, I return the EB copy to the shop, and leave with the cheaper copy in hand, and the preorder DLC as well. Hooray for being a conniving little (profanity).

Bit of a dog move, abusing the system

      • +11

Bit of a dog move on EB's part to sell me a game that's not sealed for a premium price (compared to other retailers) and call it new.

        Dog eat dog.

        • -3

          Touché

        • I’ll be surprised if you get an unsealed copy on release day. I’ve always had sealed ones, particularly early in release.

    • Can you return a new game and get a full refund after opening it? And can you return it after scratching the dlc codes too? That's crazy

      • +1

Yeah, done it a few times, everyone knows the 10 day free rental system, yeah?

As for DLC, they're not meant to, but the thing is, VERY rarely are the codes actually under a scratchie, most of the time they're just printed on paper anyways. If someone comes in and buys a new game that is meant to come with DLC, and the DLC doesn't work, they just print off another code 9 times out of 10 with no hassle anyway, so it's not like you're screwing the next owner out of the DLC anyways… though in this case, the DLC is for preorders only, and thus, the next owner would have never got any DLC anyways.

        • 10 days? I thought it was 7.

        • +1

@mekktor: Well 10 for EB World level 4 peeps, used to be 14 too IIRC.

Even still, great system, very consumer friendly, well, to the first purchaser anyway, you can deadset return it for just not liking it, it's in their policy that you can return for any reason, even including your enjoyment or lack thereof.

Been plenty of times in my trophy hunting days I'd buy a game, platinum it, then return the sucker.

        • -4

Another trick when buying a game with DLC and then returning it – Is to just to call up EBGames a few hours after you bought it and tell them that the game was missing the DLC code flyer inside the case when you first opened it.

They cannot prove that it was in there if you are buying a game on release day as most tend to be sealed. They will of course, offer to give you a new copy which you can accept or return back a few days later using their 7 day policy.

This kids, is a good trick to save lots of money. Far Cry 5 was $70 RRP and Far Cry 5 Gold was $150 on release. You get it.

      • I would like to know that, I've never returned new games in EB before

      • Yes the same people complaining that they get unsealed copies of games from EB are the ones who abuse the system and use it like a rental store lol.

At the end of the day it's EB's fault for having the policy but the people that abuse it are we we generally don't have consumer friendly policy's like that around the place.

    • That's why I stopped shopping at EB Games, the games you buy are never sealed. Why not just buy preowned games that look 'like new' than go EBGames and pay for essentially the same thing…

    • How did you get it for $69 at EB?

      • +1

Amazon were doing it for 69, then JB matched them, then I took to EB and matched JB.

  • +3

Nice, would rather buy from an independent, Australian store than Amazon.

  • Release date is 7 Sep, but here delivery and click/collect estimates are 14 Sep for WA. Worth the wait for $10? personal choice.

Can also pay $1.50 for express shipping to bump it to 10-12 Sep.

  • $49 and I'm in!

    • +1

How about saving you extra $5

  • this one doesn't come with pre-order bonus.

  • If you want this on time do not order from them. I’ve been burned multiple times with it taking a week to arrive. Avoid!!

  • Anyone seen any reviews that have 'skirted' the embargo? I think the early opinion suggests this will be a winner but you can never really know until the full reviews pop.

  • the PHENOM code doesn't seem to be working properly, has anyone else tried it?

    • Confirmed. It does work.

  • Hype building!

  • -2

    Amazon, do your thing.

How dare TheGamesMen even try to compete, that's embarrassing… Its like watching the nerd fight the jock.

    • +1

Why? Is there a problem with The Gamesmen? I've seen some pretty ridiculous prices, but if they come through with a decent deal like this?

  • +1

Bought it - price was too good to resist. Wasn't keen on this but looks great from the previews.

  • So now theres a difference between pre order copies and day 1 retail copies? WTF is the difference? I dont get it. Can someone explain to me fr

    • you might not get the following from these sellers but dont see any reason not to.

although dont see any mention of pre-order stuff in either amazon/jbhifi/ebay. only ebgames mention the pre-order stuff.

      description from Playstation Store Australia.

Pre-order now to get exclusive bonuses:
      • Spidey Suit Pack with three suits.
      • Five Skill Points to unlock abilities from the start of the game.
      • Early Unlock of a Spider-Drone Gadget.
      • Spider-Man PS4™ Dynamic Theme.
      • Spider-Man PS4™ White Spider Avatar.

      • +1

Meh! If it is there then great. Otherwise I am sure it will be fine.

        • yeah most of the pre-order stuff can be earned in-game other than the theme and avatar.

What do people make of the gfx downgrade? My opinion is if it has been, it will be hardly noticable when people are playing the game. I am all for awesome gfx but has to play smooth as well.

    • +2

Aren't people just overreacting to a smaller puddle?

  • +1

Thanks OP - just placed an order. I havent preordered a game in a looong time but i have a feeling this game will be a winner.

  • expected delivery shows 13th september for me :(

    • +1

11th to 12th for me but I can wait at this price.

  • Price has gone up to $83. You'll have to mark expired.

    • Man what the hell, just bought an eBay gift card from Woolies
