My Steam says it was released 18 March 2010, not 2011.

  • wow CNC4 .. :) long running series

  • Is this a good game? Worth buying?

    • You could start with C&C Read Alert 3: uprising - USD$ 4.99. It's a stand alone game (no need to install/buy C&C 3), very nice IMHO :)

  • Not really.
SC2 trumps it as far as RTS games go.

Who knows, the next one might bring the series back

  • +3

If you are a fan of Command & Conquer, or any of WestWoods early work, do yourself a favour, hold on to those sweet memories and dont buy this game. Its an absolute travesty. Aside from screwing up a winning RTS formula, the story was slapped together so fast, they didnt even add the effects to the final cut scene.

As a loyal fan of the series, I'm still trying to pretend this game doesnt exist.

absolute joke this is for ANYONE who enjoyed previous versions
  • No wonder…never get such a good publication…cheers

  • Not a bad price for those who want the game… but I'm going to agree with all those who think this game is a joke. It's supposedly better in co-op but I believe there's no LAN support for those who want LAN.

  • terrible terrible game. Any C&C fan knows this. Not worth buying if it cost $1.
It's an insult to gaming to even compare SC2 to this

  • Once again different pricing for different regions. If you go to the [US Steam Store](http://store.steampowered.com/?cc=us "US Steam Store"), all C&C titles are $4.99 including C&C4. The only exception is C&C3:Tiberium Wars which is $7.50.

Go for C&C Red Alert 3 instead: the best of the later games, IMO.
    Also, it's cheaper. :)

Aside from the questionable quality of C&C4, the savings are mostly imaginary. The regular Australian price is US$70, while the regular US price (exactly the same game) is US$20.

    Bloody regional pricing. :(

    • i want to neg this for the fact that they dont have global pricing, was checking it out on the UK site its on special for something like 3-4 pound (6-7 bux!)

I'm starting to boycott steam… want to start a site for it… when they do stuff like that its just WRONG WRONG WRONG!!!

      • wisc, I completely understand the sentiment, but make sure you're targeting the right people.

        See:
        http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steam_%28software%29#Regional_r…

These issues affect all digital distributors (not just Steam).

Regional pricing and availability are generally set by the publisher.

According to one thread above there's also elements of the US-AU free trade agreement that apply, designed to ensure that local retail shops can still compete with global digital distributors.

Unfortunately, it's a complicated issues, but you may do better by aiming your anger at the publishers rather than Steam.

        • true, but steam should have a pretty big push with the publishers, also direct to drive usually has the same game available for DL in australia at the US download price.
its seems easier to push the blame to someone else!

          BTW

      • OK, I'm replying to your earlier comment seeing as there is no reply option on your later comment for some reason.

The Impulse page is especially useful as it's a comment from someone at Impulse on the issue of regional availability and pricing. I know it's not Steam, but I would assume it works the same way at Impulse.

        An excerpt:

"Publishers and developers, when signing on with Impulse, specify what regions of the world their titles may be sold in. We always push for world-wide rights, but due to a variety of factors, this isn't always possible.

"Publishers and developers also set regional pricing based on currencies and areas of the globe. Again, we always ask for non-regional pricing, but once more there are limitations on the publishers which often prevent this.

"Impulse does not determine regional availability or price. This is something that is decided by the publisher/developer signing their titles on with Impulse. We are continually pushing for expanded sales regions with our partners, but those take time."

Trust me, I'm all for blaming Steam if it's their fault, I'm just not sure that's the case here.
