A better alternative is Beelong (telstra network) with same value.

A big advantage of Belong is no data bill shock. They throttle your data if you go over - unless you pony up for extra data.

Network is mostly Telstra - uses the wholesale not retail network. YMMV however equivalent to Optus' coverage.

      • And you got data rollover and a generous referral bonus.

    • The Talk2Text on Belong kills it for me. A rep told me they're going to move to Voicemail eventually, but that was >6mo ago. Once they do, I'm in because of Telstra wholesale and data rollover.

I'm with Ovo, which is $10, 1GB, unlimited text, $500 call, Optus wholesale, no upfront/associated costs, casual contract.

Don't forget you can still get this awesome deal for $10.00 after cashback -
    Catch Connect (Optus Network) | $15 for 90 Days | 45GB Data | Unlimited Talk & Text | $5 Cashback | New Customers

  • can we rollover unused data like Belong?

  • Why does the 90GB plan only use 3G and not 4G?

    • Looks like a typo. No such thing as "3G Plus" network.

Suggests they are cutting corners on copywriting, editing, etc.

      • I think they might mean 3.5G which is HSDPA+ which can give you up to 45Mbs download speeds.

    • I guess they get 3G-only access cheaper. I've seen this before on jeeneemobile I think.

    • "Critical Information" PDF indeed refers specifically to Optus 3G network. So it is 3G bandwidth.

  • All deals above are good alternatives for me!

  • Thanks OP, might give them a buzz later.

  • good for a second phone for when Telstra drops out

  • Hi OP,

Beat us to a listing. Saved me some effort though. Happy to answer any questions anyone might have.

    • Willing to include a Data Banking?

      • Not at the moment, Steptoe. Part of the reason for the low pricing on this plan is the exclusion of 'premium' features like data banking or roll over. But I suppose it's never off the table completely. The future will tell.

    • Does this support roaming? I am happy to sign up if I can Roam in Malaysia, Japan, Singapore, Thailand, and USA.

      • Hi ProdigyShin,

We don't support roaming at the moment. As with the explanation above for Steptoe, we excluded this feature to keep the service cheap and simple. Currently you're only able to use the service in Australia.

        • Thanks! But currently looking for a provider that offers low price (i.e. $10/month with no lock-in contract) that support roaming.

I noticed the importance of roaming from my recent overseas trip. Some banks will sent authentication code to AU number, without roaming, SMS service is not available and I could not withdraw cash from ATM.
