  Just be careful signing up to this offer…. once MS has you signed up to 'gold' you specifically have to cancel it with them, dont just let it lapse or stop paying. Because then they will hold your account to ransom later on in a few years when you want 'gold' again. They'll ask you to pay up for all those years in between because you didnt give them notice to cancel- otherwise they wont gold you up. They did it to me, so I had to start up a new account name. Just be careful.

  Hey Hey all, newbie here…Just got onto xbox live a few weeks ago with a free 1 month trial. I am liking it and this seems like a good deal to continue on yeah? Montaigne83, how do I do this with 2 controllers?

Have the 1st controller (not the main controller) logged into a spare Silver account (I have a few setup for local multiplayer gaming). Even after you are logged in with the main Gold account, that offer will be still shown on the screen. Go and log out of the 1st controller with the Silver account. Continue on and renew - I just did this and it seems to have worked, my account details say 40% offer started 02/2011 and next renewal 03/2012 (because I had a few more week left on my Gold). I’ll have to wait a few days and make sure that the correct amount was charged on my credit card, and now off to cancel the renewal on the website.

    If you don’t log out of the 1st controller (Silver account) the offer seems to get confused and try to make that account Gold, so PLEASE log out of the Silver account first, and keep your eyes on your avatar icon at the top of the window to make sure that you are extending the Gold account.
