  • Trumped :-)

  • Once you have choosen the right plan
for you. We do the rest.

  • Need email to get the prices 👎

    • Hi Steptoe, The initial email is the same as every other provider, including the government website. If you sign up with us, you will never receive a sales call. If you don't want another email after, just unsubscribe. easy. You will save money on your energy and you gas bill plus we will give you $60 cashback, money in your bank. Thanks Donald.

  • Not a bad deal, can stack this with other sign up offers to get a pretty handy total sign up bonus. Reminder to Victorians to at least do a comparison on https://compare.energy.vic.gov.au/ to claim their $50 (just have to compare don't have to change).

    • Hi Donkcat

Thanks for the vote of confidence :)

We try to give back where we can. We do compare 14 different retailers and we will increase on that in the future. If you have questions I am happy to answer anything I can.

We also offer sub affiliations to local clubs to give a rebate on all connections through Ask Donald as well, again to try give back.

We are not a big company but understand the meaning of value still.

      Again thanks

  • This is questionable if not dodgy.

They say they only have 14 suppliers included. That's tiny and what's the basis for the choice.

There really is no need for contact details for us to see what is on offer.

It says above "Being 100% online you will never receive an annoying sales call or 10" but on the site it actually says "We are an online company and will not call or barrage you with deals." That doesn't say no calls at all to me.

When you try and view plan details nothing comes up.

And having coincidentally signed up today with a supplier not on Ask Donald using the Victorian Government site as a starting point, I now have plans that look like they will cost less than anything offered here.

    Waste of time!

    • Can you share your plan and what you saw on this website to validate your point?

      • I went with a plan with Globird but like most of these things what is the best deal for you will depend on where you are and who the distributors are for your region.

On the website it actually says 15 companies though the OP said just above my post 14 so I figured I would use that figure.

On the website, I clicked on the plan button next to the suggested plan, got a whirling circle and then nothing.

        • Hi Gary,

We have had nearly over 100 people take up our offer with no issues, if you have a technical error we would appreciate if you could screen shot it and email it to [email protected] as we would like to have a reliable website and have done everything in our power to test it.

          We care about your experience.

          Ask Donald

        • @Ask Donald: No point in a screen shot as nothing happened when I clicked it so nothing really to show. As for the people taking up the offer they don't need to click the button to take up the offer so maybe they didn't.

  • Hi Gary,

How many companies does the Victorian Government compare for you? I bet you don't know, maybe we are doing the wrong thing by telling you how many companies will be competing for the best deal for you?

We can 100% guarantee that you will not receive a phone call from us. No need to scrape our website for something that will "catch us out". YOU WILL NOT GET THE CALL.

The view plan 100% works, it takes you to the applicable plan with the providers terms and conditions. Not ours, we are a comparator.

I would like to see you compare what we offer and what the Vic Government offers also, we are trying to provide a comparison service for Australians.

Saying we are a waste of time, is completely untrue as we currently are giving back to local clubs and small businesses that compare with us and will continue to work for the people.

Your opinion is your opinion, but in this case I feel you are misinformed and are speculating on assumptions, which are untrue.

    All the best, Ask Donald

When we contact you it may be by mail, telephone, email, SMS or social media.

      Fix your privacy policy then.

    • Yes to be fair I haven't counted them but I have scrolled through and seen a lot more than 14 or 15.

You haven't actually given us any info on why you have those and not all of them?

I wasn't scraping your website, just reading what you put clearly above the boxes that ask for the contact info. If I had been scraping it I might have found the privacy policy gorillainwild found.

The link under the plan gave me terms and conditions from suppliers but the plan button failed to work so I worked it out on the consumption figures it gave me. No assumption or speculation there.

      • Hi Gary,

I just posted this to another user, but it explains it pretty well.

Our privacy Policy is related to our website, we provide a comparison service. If you choose to book flights through say Jetstar, then read their privacy policy before booking. Having said this, there is no need to enter your information if you are comparing flights with us. You do enter your information when comparing energy, however; we will not call you ever. If you enter your email address for energy and don't switch, we will email you after 7 days to ask you why you didn't buy, if you do not want this email, you are free to unsubscribe and we respect that. If you sign up energy with say AGL for example, you should read their privacy policy before signing up, which is available in the view plan section before you sign up.

We understand that people's trust have been abused by other companies, but we are different. We are based in Melbourne and are trying to bring the best deals to the people of Australia, Ask Donald will never ask for credit card details or payment by the user.

Thanks and if you have any further questions please ask.

        Ask Donald.

    • :)

  • In regards to your Privacy Policy where you state

If you provide your personal information to a third party via Ask Donald (for example, to purchase products or services on a third party website which is linked to Ask Donald) that information is collected and managed by those third parties. You should familiarise yourself with their privacy policy prior to deciding whether you wish to provide them with your information.

When all of your services are provided by 3rd party white label comparison sites, isn't all the users information being provided to a 3rd party site? How is it possible to familiarise yourself with their privacy policy when you don't disclose who you are booking though?

    • Hi Munnday,

Our privacy Policy is related to our website, we provide a comparison service. If you choose to book flights through say Jetstar, then read their privacy policy before booking. Ask Donald.

      • However in the case of electricity comparison, information is also being provided to Cimet so information is being provided to a 3rd party (as the user is directly dealing with Ask Donald) - the user is unable to view the privacy policy of Cimet as it's never disclosed the information is being provided to them.

        • Hi Munnday,

Cimet is a platform we use, but the users details remain with us. This is a signed legal agreement. The reason we use Cimet is because there is no alignment with a retailer, most of the other comparison companies are owned by a retailer, we are not.

          All the best.

          Ask Donald
