"You may.."?
Hello again powershop
Looks like they halved their sign up credit though. I got $200 back in July.
i tried to sign up again but they removed a plan. when i put my neighbour's address all plans were available. they're onto us!
I dont have engie (250 credit) and powershop (credit) on my list at all.
PS customer service and billing was terrible …
I just got my third monthly bill and they still made silly mistakes like the first and second.
They couldn't do basic math properly.
I'm actually switching from them with this deal.
Good riddance!
Be warned, the prepaid mastercard only lasts 90 days once you claim it. Currently in a dispute with them because there was zero notice from Econnex or Karta of the expiry. (This was after having to chase it in the first place and them initially disputing I was even eligible.) I assume I'll win in the end but be prepared for some time spent!
How a $200 GC can last you more than 90days though? You must've privileged brotha!!
Because it can be hard to use.
Tried to use mine on water bill and council rates… wouldn't work.Don't limit yourself. Shopping, eating out, internet bill, rego, parking, toll etc. recently i had a small portion left and used it in Coles, i found no issue at all
@ginger-gin: Exactly. And they can also be used on the Woolworths Everyday Gifting Rewards portal to purchase digital gift cards so you could swap them for Woolworths Gift Cards and then use them to pay at Woolworths anytime you want as they never expire. I actually bought them through NRMA so received a nice 4% discount for them. I assume too that they can be used to purchase discounted digital gift cards (e.g., Coles) through Shopback but I have not tried that yet.
You can add it to your Google wallet on android and can use on any purchases like groceries, Bunnings, petrol, public transport.
Thats a big and important disclaimer - wonder why you are being downvoted?
Ozbargain doesn't have a minimum intelligence bar.
The expiry date is listed under "card details" in the app.
That has always been the case, but Manyo (the rep) would have listed it in the deals body. This is in bolded letters in the T&C's so I'm not sure about your chances
The Mastercard Digital Gift card will expire 90 days after activation
Be aware as well, you only have 30 days to claim it from when it is emailed to you. I missed that 30 days on my last $200 card (switch deal from March, to be paid in June/July), and it took much rigmarole with them to reissue it. Over many weeks of contacting them back and forth, in order, they said:
- They couldn't do it
- If I was willing to sign up for a new provider over the phone with them then, they could offer me a new $100 gift card for that, specially for me, even though they "weren't running any bonus promotions" at the time.
- They could offer me a $100 card instead, no provider switch required.
- They could offer me a $125 card instead, no provider switch required.
- They could offer me a $150 card instead, no provider switch required.
Each of which I politely declined, and restated my request for the full amount to simply be reissued, as it wasn't like the money just disappeared - and if I had claimed it in time, the card would still be valid anyway. They'll try as hard as they can to get out of paying it, because that's just free money for them. Eventually, they did agree that they could do it, but it would need to be issued with the next group batch in October. I just received it last week. Six weeks of back and forth, and then a month more of waiting.
The lesson here is check your spam folders, folks, and don't assume like I did that because I already have a Karta account, the card would automatically show up in there.
I'm literally about to go through the same rigmarole I think.
I'm going through the same situation. Missed it by a week … Thanks for the heads-up.
Damn. Thanks for letting us know. I don't see it anyway in T&C.
Be aware you quite often have to chase Econnex to pay these…..if left to their own devices they seem to all too often 'forget' to send the card out to you. I've been via this promo twice and perhaps I'm unlucky but both times despite doing all correct did not get the card by the max time stated - had to email them to give a 'please explain' got zero reply either time - but had card sent out.
Feels a tad deliberate i.e every card we don't send out is pure profit.
I just received my second one last week. I didn't have to chase them (but I had a calendar alarm set up to do so). You might be unlucky.
What's the email domain or keyword for me to search?
I have been owed when I last sign up in July.Karta or Karta Rewards
Make sure you check spam/junk folders.
I didn't know this, but I did a search on the T+Cs and it is mentioned.
luckily its pretty much a standard Mastercard, so I just paid for my bill with it when I had it. if I bank up too many gift cards I lose/forget them so id prefer to use it up ASAPIve used them twice and both times was fine.
Even had to switch phone numbers and their customer service transferred the gift card to my new number.
Very responsive.
Can't fault it TBH.Switch and earn, i've done it twice this year so $300 (2x $150), which is about 25% of my yearly electricity bill.
i received mine last week, about 48 hours after the date i was told i would get it.
I do suggest you screenshot the details of your offer to avoid confusion though
Same here with me.
They never answer emails unless you ask the rep on here and I was never sent a gift card.
After raising it with them, they basically answered with nothing to do with them and closed the case.Never using them again directly.
Still waiting for my Bonus to arrive from Switch & Stay 45 Days for Bonus Prepaid Mastercard: Electricity $150, Gas $125, Internet $75 @ Econnex (Excl NT, Ergon QLD) on 14.07.25.
Emailed few days ago, been told expect to receive the card between 1st to 15th November 2025.
I only just got the one from mid June.
they do take a while. upto 120 days I think they quote.
the one I did earlier in the year signed up 20th may, received the gift card 9th Sept (112 days). best believe its in their best "interest" to hold off as long as possible. pun intended.Signed up the same day and was wondering when we'd receive them. Thanks for chasing / sharing!
i signed up a couple days before you. Are we safe to churn? I noticed when I churned, my whole billing period moved over ie from end of May to end of August not from date of sign up - early July. If that happens again, my new provider would start end of august which is fine because I used this link which was 30 days - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/902931
I want to do this but they don't have any links for the Superloop 2000 speeds
surprisingly got mine last time
Can I opt to switch in future date?
These offers always have lots and lots of people complaining. I think it's a mix of eConnex being quite poor at communicating, plus, I'm sorry to say, people not bothering to read the terms carefully. My observations are detailed below, but might not match everyone's (note that I'm in Victoria).
- The wording for the terms about when the "days" for qualifying for the offer start are contradictory - in some places they say from sign-up with eConnex and others say from connection. In a support call I was told it's from when the provider confirms it has processed the application (so neither sign-up nor connection, but provider acknowledgement). In my experience you get an email from the provider within a few days of sign-up with eConnex telling you that you have become a customer (but may not yet be connected).
- eConnex's description of when the cards will arrive is incorrect. Based on my experiences and a response from them when I queried the exceeding of 120 days, they seem to have some sort of batch processing windows (maybe 14 days), so if your qualifying day falls within that window you'll get the card sometime in that window, but it might be outside the stated 120 days. Stupid arrangement, but it means you probably shouldn't bother querying it for another week or two after the 120 days.
- all versions of the terms that I've seen have stated the card must be activated within 30 days of issue
- all versions of the terms that I've seen have stated 90 days validity
And always check with them as soon as you've signed up that your sign-up has tracked under the correct offer, rather than assuming so and then discovering months later that they have no record of it.
Thanks for the tips. How do you check that you have signed up to the correct offer? I assume you email them about it? So you do this each time and they respond and let you know?
Yes, I send a support email every time requesting confirmation that the offer tracked.
All good and helpful points, and no doubt people here on ozb 'play the game', but quite clearly their model is based on not issuing the mastercards until they're chased up, or otherwise counting on people not claiming or using the mastercards within the ridiculously short claim and expiry periods so that they can pocket the profit.
There would be a lot of people out there who really need that gift card and who don't have the time or know-how to follow it through. Econnex should be called out on this.
You can read the terms and conditions inside out, but if econnex or their supplier fails to deliver the gift card, you're out of luck. Once you report it, they basically shrug and move on. So no matter how well-informed you are, if they drop the ball on sending the card, you're still the one losing out.
Damn it, just changed my electricity yesterday so miss out on this so I could get the $250 credit from Engie. Oh well.
There is a 10 day cooling off period so you can cancel and sign up for this offer.
Hmm. Interesting.
Just connected to Engie, but the 10 business days cooling off obviously still applies.
Thoughts on still signing up to them again with this new link ($200 instead of $100 is a no-brainer), but unsure of Engie's initial credit.
unfortunately I am still in my 45 day "stay" period from the last deal which means I will miss out on switching this time :(
Does Angie have a exclusion clause to stop you get more than 1 sign up bonus within 12 months?
Engie has the lowest supply charge for my area plus a sign-up bonus. If you haven't received the bonus in the past 12 months, it's a solid offer.
Still shows my previous gas plans as the best offer, does it allow me to 'switch' to the same plan again? 🤔
Oof, this one might get me.
Been living high on the ovo plan, using 2/3rds of my power in the free block. But cold days seem to be coming to an end so the $200 is probably going to be a better bet (at least until I find a cheap commercial ice maker)
Anyone taken a risk with previous deals by staying the 45 days then switching to a new Econnex deal to double up when a new one comes available?
it is not a double dip. Econnex gets paid for each new referral. so you can continue to keep switching after serving the 30/45 day period when the next econnex deal comes around. As long as you dont sign up to the same retailer again using the econnex deal, you should be ok. This is what the rep told me when I spoke to him.
Yeah I got you. Moreso just curious if econnex become stingy on paying out.
I switch every 45+ days if there is a new Econnex deal. No problems at all.
I've even received the Powershop welcome credit twice in the same year.
So no problem going back to the same provider more than once to get another Econnex prepaid mastercard?
No, Econnex doesn't care. You'll get your gift card.
The provider, on the other hand, may reject any welcome credits. Powershop didn't.
The Engie electricity offer mentions a $125 bill credit. Would that be in addition to the $200 Econnex bonus?
Sure
If course I just signed up to the $100 deal a few days ago :)
Watch out for Superloop. They require 30 days notice, and don't do pro-rata billing. If you serve notice on day 30, it voids the cashback. Essentially it's a 3 month minimum term with them
Optus doesn't require notice, but doesn't do prorata.
Aussie Broadband doesn't require notice and does do pro rata, but they are the most expensive.
Sorry, I don't understand what mean by your 3rd sentence.
if you serve notice on day 30, it voids the cashback.
So how do I move away from them?
If I was going to stay for 6 months, call them at the end of month 5/start of month 6 and give notice? It means you can't give notice until day 45 at the earliest, which means the cancellation doesn't come into effect until day 75, halfway through month 3.
Only a problem if you intend to churn away asap. If you're intending to stay for 6 months it's fine
Thanks mate :)
Swoop doesn't seem to have a 30 day clause so might be ok as well? Tempted to get the $54/month for 2 months (essentially $4/month) but just have to live with 25/8 for that time
If you give your 30 day notice in say 5 days past your billing cycle, then your next bill will be for the 5 days next cycle. I submitted my mums 30 days 2 days before the billing cycle ended, they refused to end it pm the last billing day ('30 days only!' ) but the next bill did take out 2 days of equivalent charges.
Lets go round 4 of doing this. No issue on rounds 1 and 2. Still waiting on mastercard from round 3.
Is there any restriction on how frequently you can do it?
On previous threads people said no.
I've done it at day 50 (on stay for 45 days) and had no issues recieving them a few months later
any electricity plan suggestions for solar + battery but no EV?
Used their last deal with giftcard as the reward. Received the text message to check my email as Karta had issued the GC. No email.
Econnex claim not their problem check with Karta. Karta want order numbers, account details of their app (which i never had). Think i am up to email 6 back and forward with no end in sight.Check your spam folder, for me it went to my spam folder
This happened to me too, econnex said exactly the same and closed my ticket.
It's annoying that we've waited 120 days for a deal that never came through.
Also I even checked my mail logs on my server and no emails from Karta at all.
Just be aware that these guys most likely sell your data to a scam company such as "Energy Savers".
I kept getting a lot of calls from "Energy Savers" 3 months later to my burner phone and fake name that was only used with Econnex.
Need to use these cards within 90 days. What's best way to quickly without fuss. Guessing Amazon gift card..?
is the prepaid mastercard sent in the mail or is it digital?
Digital (don’t forget to check your spam regularly).
Electricity is in my name. House jointly owned. Can I switch into my wife’s name? I will call current provider and Engie if nobody knows.
I would assume you can. When I switched before the electricity was in joint names at the previous provider, and I just put it in my name with the new provider.
Using your wife's name with new provider, and your name with current address, imo, will be considered changing of tenants and you might need to pay for disconnected fee(correct me if i am wrong), the best way i think you should change to your wife's name with your current provider then start moving to others
you won't have to pay for disconnected fee, just pay for the final bill, that's all
Econnex don't have a way to enter your NMI number right? If there are multiple electricity accounts at the same address, how to make it clear to them which one you want transferred?
They never find my NMI any time i join. They call me for it and i provide it over the phone
beware:
When the request for a switch or connection cannot be completed, is unsuccessful, or a request is made for the cancellation of your Electricity Plan and/or Gas Plan within the first 45 days from the date of activation, you will not be eligible to receive any Card. There may be additional fees charged to the Customer by the chosen retailer in these events.Last year it took almost half a year for my gas to switch to Energy Australia
Does it still apply if first application unsuccessful then I submit more evidence to get it approved?
Do they really charge below for switching provider?
Move-in / new connection fee $126.29alinta energy paying you $0.00040 for per kilowatt hour. Funny isnt it?
Time to switch.
better to go with topcashback for superloop and get $95 tracked in minutes. instead waiting for mastercard by ecconex, no gurantee.
tcb deal requires minimum 90 days to get cashback. ecoonext one 45 days
90 days of maintaining service, or hold for the same 45 days. Just it gets paid 45 days later?
90 days of maintaining service. always read the fine print, never assume anything
The Free 3 Plan
OVO pay 3% interest on credit balances (after all monthly charges are considered). This is prorated for the number of days since your last bill.
You will be paying for the energy, in advance every month, based on the energy we estimate you will consume in accordance with applicable energy laws, pursuant to a bill smoothing arrangement as set out in our Market Retail Contract Terms and ConditionsI understand that I will be paying for the energy, in advance every month, based on the energy they estimate I will consume in accordance with applicable energy laws, pursuant to a bill smoothing arrangement detailed in their Market Contract T&Cs.
Do I need to be wary of this?
I have used Econnex before to get electricity deals.
Am I still eligible?Yes
If I swich after the minimum days but before I get my gift card, will I still get my gift card?
Yes
Is this link still working? As unable to proceed after selecting gas/elec. Refreshing the page results in 404
Same, the link doesn't work for me either! :(

Please correct me if I am wrong, can this offer be stacked with Shopback or TCB cashback offers.
