    Great stuff WatchNerd and Starbuy.
I wish I liked divers enough to get one!
Those prices are insanely good though, given the service, speed and awesomeness of Starbuy.

Divers are the best Nerd, I own 4 of them.

Thanks, DiverNerd. I may consider one.

      You swim/dive with your phone?

We get that a phone tells the time too but sometimes certain scenarios or situations where you cannot or are not allowed to have a phone on you but you still like to know what time it is.

    • Phones in change rooms especially at pools, people think you are taking photos of naked same sex adults or naked kids ….ewwww.

      Not cool at all.

    • +1

My job requires a watch with a second hand. Many occupations out there it’s alot easier having it on your wrist then pulling out a phone.

      • out of curiosity, what do you do?

        • Fly planes

        • @Gearup: Very cool. SO you need the aviation watches :)

      • I used to be an Army Officer and in the field I often had 2 watches sometimes set on different time zones (local time and Zulu time). Sometimes i had a watch on each wrist with the top half of an old sock covering them to prevent any light leakage from the lume giving away my position at night. Could not carry a phone as radiating (yes I know watches may radiate as well but at an extremely low level) would give away your position.

Sleeves of my coat wont fit when I strap my iphone to my wrist

    • Lume. My watch can show me the time at night without reaching for my phone and pressing a button.

Wanting to buy Casio Edifice Bluetooth, very keen!

  • Something from Tissot would be good!

    • I've asked these guys about stocking other brands in the past - they reckon its because they have a reputation for being big discounters off RRP, none of the swiss makers will partner with them - which makes a lot of sense tbh. Japanese watches are amazing, but swiss watches have that element of status about them - they wouldn't want these guys moving big quantities of them and effectively taking some of that status away.

  • Can anyone recommend a leather strap seller from Aliexpress or Ebay please?

    • +2

I'd recommend Holben's Fine Watch Bands or Martu straps

    • +3

Second the recommendation for Holben's, the brands they stock are great. Currently wearing a Fluco band which I think are priced really well.
Can purchase from Ebay or Amazon.
I just came across Graft Supply as well, looks to be based in Melbourne and the straps are nice and well priced.

    • Thank you both, Holben's make some beautiful bands, spent the last hour looking and still can't decide between them, might order 2 or 3 even though only one is required ;)

  • Seems prices have gone up…399 for the mini turtle now.

    • +2

      Gotta apply the discount code…

      • +9

        I'm an idiot.

  • im really digging the rolex looking watches, can you recommend any other one that is better value for money and looks even closer to the rolex sub than this BN0191 blue?

  • +2

Thanks WatchNerd you legend. Been waiting for the BN0191-80L to go on sale again.

  • No…! Dying for the Turtle black :____(

  • Going to get one for my birthday present, can't decide which one to get, the Citizen Eco-Drive Promaster Black SS Bracelet BN0150-61E or the mini black turtle. @.@

    • The biggest difference is the movements. The Citizen Eco-Drive is a solar quartz watch which means that it will basically run non stop for many years provided it gets enough light. It's also more accurate.

The Seiko Mini Turtle is an automatic watch, so if you take it off once it has a full power reserve then it will only run for around 41 hours. This isn't as accurate as quartz, but people don't buy auto watches for their accuracy.

Personally for $50.00 more I would buy the Seiko as you are getting a lot more watch for the money.

      • Hmm, it is a hard decision for me since I do not know much about watches, thanks for the explanation. I like the citizen design more but the turtle is also not that bad. Could you elaborate more how the seiko has more watch values?

        • +1

The Citizen is a very nice watch, I own one on rubber, which is available in this deal for $199.00 (BN0150-10E), so you are paying an extra $100 for the same watch with a stainless steel bracelet if you buy the BN0150-61E.

People tend to buy auto watches because they appreciate the engineering behind them. Some people love the fact that the seconds hand doesn't tick like a quartz, it runs smooth.

You will learn more by doing a google search, just type in Quartz or Automatic, or read some threads on Watchuseek, like this one.

        • +4

'Automatic' watches dont have a battery, their internal 'Movement' is literally a tiny machine made up of little gears. The movement of your wrist swings a little weight around and this re-tensions a spring to keep it 'wound' up. Most people that 'Collect' watches value Automatic watches much higher than other types of watches. There is a healthy second hand marketplace for Automatic watches, nowhere near as much for 'Quartz' watches. Eco-Drives are Quartz (Battery Powered) watches that have a solar panel on the watch face to recharge the internal battery.

If you are simply after a functional watch and accuracy and durability are most important to you then a $10 watch from KMart is probably your best bet. Collectors and people that are'into' watches are almost always more interested in 'Automatic' watches and as a result the 'Automatics' will retain some second hand value and in the longer term be much more 'Collectable' going forward. An Eco-Drive might make sense to you as a low maintenance long term functional watch and good luck to you if it is. Somewhere out there somebody will be an Eco-Drive collector but generally they are not considered 'Collectable' watches and probably wont retain any 2nd hand value going forward.

If you somehow bumped into another Watch afficionado somewhere they would probably be interested in a Seiko Turtle and take notice. Speaking for myself I wouldnt even notice an Eco-Drive. I have owned 1 or 2 over time but to me they were simply functional devices that i tossed or lost in a drawer when I moved onto something else. I have several different Seiko Autos that I treasure and wear regularly.

        • Thank you guys for the clear explanation

  • looks like the deals have ended, unable to apply code.

  • Oops! Missed it again

  • Would they reactivate the code in any chance?
