Hope this would kill the NGCD load time in Polymega. https://www.polymega.com

I still own a NGCD. While I no longer use it due to power adapter problem (4 adapters infact), I might able to use the controllers once I finish off my Zero Delay USB adaptor.

    - Last of Us - Feels :(

My first console was a Sega Master System, loved playing Alex Kidd in Miracle World. Must have beat it 100's of times.

I was first playing consoles such as Atari and Colecovision at my grand parents house when younger.

Most excited when I got a Sega Megadrive.

Favourite game was on my Amiga 500. The Secret of Monkey Island. Loved the humour it brought to gaming and the story that went with it and the memorable characters.

    Still gaming with my PS4

    • +2

The secret of Monkey Island 1 & 2 is my favorites for PC. The writing and puzzles are really funny.

Here is to some of our great memories of Monkey Island Cheers!

I have too many to list (started gaming on Atari 2600 back in the 80's) but has anyone mentioned Metal Gear Solid on the original Playstation?

That bit where the dude moves your controller… blew me away.

    • Yes a few people are die-hard cardboard snake here. Die hard Trilogy Playstation ? lol

One of the few early games that use the dual analog stick rumble. (Sigh it took a lot of my lunch money to buy that expensive controller)

Tobal works great with it ^_^

Top 5 in no particular order would have to be:

    Dark Queen of Krynn
    Dune 2
    Quarantine
    Carmageddon
    Total Annihilation

    • +1

Dune 2….a building of a dynasty. Had good memories with it, one of my first early RTS…not sure warcraft of this came first but they are all great classic games.

      Dune 2, Dune 2000 and the Dune…..the 3d version. ~Love the OST
one of my favourites Ghola- House of Ordos

Remember not having a sound card at the time I got it, it was beep beep via the pc speaker.
THen after installing the sound card, my whole PC experience has changed drastically. The midi sounded sooooo good at that time and there was speech pack…I think.

      • Oh yeah, I remember I played through wolf 3d with pc speaker only. Then I got sound blaster!! what a revolution that was.

Also totally forget but the Krynn game in my top 5 can easily be replace with Street Rod.

  • +1

One of the most memorable would have to be Mario Kart 64 on the Nintendo 64.
Zelda was a close second :)

And this asteroid game on the Atari when you had no cartridge in it - can't remember what it was called but that was great!

  • +2

This is why i think the nintendo online service has merit kind of. They want to add multiplayer to old games. Can you imagine if they did that to Mario kart 64 so people can play multiplayer online… ONE CAN DREAM

    Nice thread.

    Final fantasy 7 ps1
    Okami wii
    Counterstrike pc
    Last of us ps3
    Tenshu ps1

    • +1

      Okami is a hidden gem.

      • One of my kids favourites, by far! Just a beautifully designed game. The artwork is still amazing.

  • +1

That's an impressive list of consoles. At a rough count I would have owned about half of them.

But here's one you didn't have:

    Panasonic 3DO

Favourite Game: the original Need for Speed baby!

  • +1

    Atari
    Galaga

  • +2

Okay, I'm officially old as dirt- lol:

I can still clearly recall going over to my niece/nephews house because their father had purchased "PONG!".

We were spellbound. It was just incredible that we were controlling the "paddle" moving it up & down the screen. :)

Next fav: Pitfall, on the Atari 2600.

Lastly, after I had my own kiddies (circa 2004?): a full set-up of Nintendo 64 in Ice Blue (barely used & still in box) with all of the best games included. I think there were something like 20-25 games, two nice black games drawers, plus two extra controllers… and I bought it all for $15!

We still have that Nintendo and the "kids" (now 19 & 24) still play "Super Smash Bros" on occasion with their friends.

    ;)

EDIT: forgot to add my all-time fav PC game: Grim Fandango!

    I love this thread…

    Some of mine:

    Atari 2600: Solaris

Master System: Alex Kidd in Miracle World, Wonderboy in Monster Land, Super Monaco GP, and I'd need to check what I have missed.

SNES: Secret of Mana, Secret of Evermore, Street Fighter 2 Turbo, Terranigma, Super Mario World, Super Probotector, F-Zero & Mario Kart

PC: Defender Of The Crown, King of Chicago, Leisure Suit Larry 1-3, Police Quest 1-3, Space Quest 4, Quest For Glory (all of them), Monkey Island (actually, any of the early Lucasarts point & click ones).

XBOX: Halo (of course), Guantet, Manhunter and so many others that have been in storage for too long…

XBox 360: there were dozens, but for me the dark horse was Catherine, this one seemed to just fly under the radar and I only ever saw it in the stores once, but lost weeks to it.

Sega Master system, hands down beats out any console. It may have not been the most popular console, but I adore it with all my heart.

Wonder boy and the dragons trap (thanks for the remake) was a big part of my early years of gaming.

Alex kidd in shinobi land is another stand out, love the soundtrack so much I'll listen to it every once in a while.

Cyborg hunter was my metroid-vania back in the day, picked up a copy not too long ago to enjoy again.
