  • Good price. Very tempting.

  • +8

Use code "Goo8" for the slightly cheaper price of $447 delivered.

    • Thanks I have updated to your code.

  • Hmmmmm Lowest so far? waiting for my 3 year old phone to die

    • +1

The longer it lives the more you'll save on this one at the end

      • You are right, this was meant to be around USD $299, many reviews in YouTube quote around this price, seems price gouging at the moment.

  • +1

I'd buy a Asus zenfone 5 before I'd buy this, no 28, of nfc, Asus has both for similar money. But nevertheless it's a solid deal

    • +17

      Snapdragon 845 vs 636? 4000 mAh battery vs 3300? That's a big trade-off.

      • +1

No NFC, or 28 is way bigger. 636 runs the thing just fine trust me, best phone I've owned by a long shot… Battery life is alllll day with 30% at 10pm

        • +6

While I agree with NFC, I will never understand the b28 craze of this place.

        • +5

@Wonderfool: really b28 700mhz is designed for 4g coverage indoors, I would not buy a phone without it, it's the first thing thing I look for.

        • +2

          @Wonderfool:

You've clearly never used a non-b28 phone in a shopping centre or undercover carpark and then changed back to see the difference.

        • +2

          @tromboc:

What if I say I have? And figured that the one bar of reception loss or that one corner in front of woolies in Auburn wasn't enough for me to care?

I mean, if you're a gamer, fair enough.

        • +1

          @Wonderfool:

Band 28 is important to me. Couldn’t careless about NFC, my watch is better for tap to pay than using phone.

        • @Wonderfool:

That's wonderful if you're happy paying premiums for networks that utilize band 28, but you're happy using a handset that is unable to access it… :)

        • +1

          @Wonderfool:

I've used phones both with and without B28, there is a difference. In cities the difference I noticed is mainly just speed - I saw 10-30mbps instead of 80-140mbps (on cat4 portable WiFi). Not really problematic, though I often fired up the portable WiFi if I needed to download larger files.

In rural areas it's very noticeable. In town speeds are similar to in cities (~10-30mbps), though out of town these speeds drop as low as ~2.5mbps - barely usable. This increased to ~4mbps near a window, though still not enough for my liking. At the same location I'm currently getting 40mbps with a B28 device. In town I get 200mbps with B28.

      • Am using the Zenfone 5 its really an awesome phone love the AI camera on it

    • -5

Iphone XS Max doesnt have band 28 either….

      • +2

The A2101 that will be sold in Australia will have b28, apparently.

        https://au.pcmag.com/news/58587/warning-there-are-4-differen…

        • That awesome, but no NFC?? It's the mistake oneplus made with the 2, they never lived it down…

        • @Retchey: yeah not sure honestly, I don't really follow the apple specs etc. Silly if it doesn't have nfc

      • Really? Optus have the thing for pre-sales, 28 is especially designed for indoors 4g, maybe there is a aussie variant?

  • +1

Whats the camera like though? Xiaomi (and most chinese phones), the cameras are pretty crap compared to anything in the samsung or apple range. Mrs complains about her Xiaomi note 5 and Oppo A73, especially low light is terrible.

    • +17

$450 vs $800-1200. It helps to have realistic expectations.

      • +5

Which is exactly why I asked the question mate. My Xiaomi robot vac was $330 and its equivalent to a name brand of much higher value.

Samsung S8 which is a year and a half old takes fantastic pictures, I was asking to see if the chinese phones have caught up.

        • +2

Samsung S8 currently sells for about $700-$800 retail. This thing is $449. I don't think its a fair comparison. However, I have read reviews that state that the camera is not bad for the price they charge. Hope this helps.

        • He was saying that in relation to the cost of the phone the camera is good with the xiaomi.
You say your s8 camera is good… someone with a phone costing twice as much as your s8 will strongly disagree with you. Simples…

        • you might want to rethink your brandname/chinese brand equivalencies for mobile phones then

mobiles phones are super customizable and new tech comes out literally every month while vacuums are always going be vacuums in that they're just going to suck air in and won't need fancy doodads like nfc/notch/b28/wireless charging/screensize/etc.

    • +1

My missus has the Samsung s8+ and I don't see anything that special about the camera…. and I still use my Xiaomi Redmi note 3 pro (and it has B28)

      • +3

Take it out at night and you'll see it.

Most camera differences nowadays are only noticeable when light condition isn't good. Even budget phones can handle artificial lights okay for a few years now.

      • +1

I had the redmi note 3 pro, real nice, good value phone for the price. Except the camera was too crap, especially in low light. Ended up upgrading. Don't trust online reviews either, for the most part.

At the end of the day, you get what you pay for.

    • +1

Not first hand experience here but I've heard alot of people use the google camera app from the Pixel and have much improved results.

    • To answer your question, my aged nexus 5x still beats the camera of my new xiaomi redmi 5 plus. The redmi was $250 new though, so can’t compare them really, they are a different league. With phone cameras, you really need to pay up for good quality, no way around it.

      • I think the 5x camera is really underrated. Especially with the camera updates they put through after launch.
It still takes great shots compared to all but the top flagships.
Unfortunately the phone itself is no longer able to perform at an acceptable level for me.

  • Is it GST included. And if so, can I claim TRS?

    • No. They don't charge GST, I bought a phone recently from them. No ABN/mention of GST on any invoice.

Still got delivered, was worried it'd be intercepted at the border to charge GST on, but I'm pretty sure the government doesn't bother with that and just try to collect from large businesses directly.

Also their FAQ/T&C says that the price you pay is it, no import fees or anything.. So that's reassuring.

    Price $440.
    Welcome code -$6
    Delivery economy $15
    Hence the 449.
    Takes 6_8days though

  • Good timing, just after Apple announced their New iPhones.

    • +1

      plus GST….

      • where does gst get calculated? IN the checkout screen?

        • In cart

EDIT: Everything that ships from outside Australia has GST component added in cart.

        • @currentfad:

          oh shoot. Forgot about GST.

    • Thanks for posting. I just ordered ten.

    • People also bought this

  • This or iphone 10s max?

    • LOL He's negged for mentioning an Iphone haha love it!

      Get the Iphone 6

      • iPhone 6s*

        • +2

It was a joke. Don't get any iphones

        • @smuggler: Well if you had to get an iPhone, a used 6s would be the one to get.

        • @shot: the 6s+ runs quite nicely on iOS 12. I was getting worried iOS 11 was the beginning of the end but other than a battery, runs almost like new.

  • The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 at $399 shipped is a good price on this site too.

    • Definitely prefer it to the Pocophone.

      • -2

        Thanks for letting us know.

    • This phone has B28 yea?

      • no

  • What's the camera like on this phone? Lots of reviews saying it's on par with Oneplus 6 and with the google camera it's only a small step behind the the S9.

Been looking at purchasing a new phone and can't decide between:

    Oneplus 6, Pocophone F1 or Samsung S9 or S9+.

    • In daylight sure, but not even close in low light.

      • I am just curious….
All the cameras on the phone , they would be all pretty close spec'ed with current technology.
I doubt the price to manufacture these are more than $10 difference.

Are the difference in the so said low light quality sucks for poco is it all DUE to software?

If we put the same camera on iPhone and pick phone…..We surely will get way better image quality than poco.

Correct me if I am wrong.

        • Not saying software isn’t a factor because it definitely is. However hardware is one area letting the camera down. No ois on the camera. Perhaps the sensor isn’t as good as the ones used in the more expensive phones also. There’s always trade offs In hardware needed to get a phone down to this price.

    • S9+.

Best phone man that doesn't cost a fortune.

  • Bought a Oppo ax5 $379 and Oppo r11s $472 from office works Hornsby this morning and
R11s was ticketed to sell.they still have 2 each in stock

  • Ordered on Saturday and still waiting for it to be shipped.
Guess it ain't arriving this week. Bummer

    • Got mine yesterday been great so far the B28 issue in Aus seems overhyped using mine in country NSW at the moment getting great 4g signal and speed https://imgur.com/a/unyhLT1
The camera is far better than I expected I hope you get it soon!

      • When did you place your order and pay for it ?
It got posted yesterday for mine and still waiting for it
