        • @JuliusSeizure:

2014: Wiggins to Wolves via the Love Trade
1993: Webber to Warriors via Penny getting drafted to the Magic.

Last two notable times a pick 1 was traded. I agree your idea has merit but its just doesn't happen when it comes to wheeling and dealing.

        • @JuliusSeizure: Sorry, and more recently Faultz.

        • @Gringoesai: Just a bit of omission bias, aye? :P The discussion was on trading for high potential picks using significant assets. Not just number 1 picks. Let's take a look….

1987: Scottie Pippen (5) to Sonics for the 8th draft pick (Olden Polynice), a 1988 second rounder and a 1989 first rounder.
1996: Kobe Bryant (13) to Lakers for Vlade Divac (a prominent piece of the Lakers at the time who broke numerous records)
2001: Pau Gasol (3) to Grizzlies for Shareef Abdur-Raheem (Shareef was the centrepiece of the Grizzlies for 3 seasons and would go on to have an incredible first season with the Hawks)
2005: Deron Williams (3) for draft picks 6 and 27, and a future first round pick
2011: Kawhi Leonard (15) to Spurs for the George Hill (Pop's favourite player and trading for Kawhi was his toughest decision. Spurs developed Hill into a very decent combo-guard who many teams were hoping to trade for)

This is the type of high-risk, high reward play that changes a lottery team into a contender. It's not going to deter executives from making such decisions anytime soon.

        • @JuliusSeizure: Yeah valid but they had nothing to give up. He's not trading away LaMarcus or DeRozan and nothing else would lure (picks or fringe), they would not have taken a for either player for the 1st pick. The kid looks good but I highly doubt he is going to be the next Petrović. Anyway - leave this for reddit. Fair points.

Demar Derozan doesn't get any team anywhere.

        I'm a Torontoian / Raptors fan.

        • Maybe Raptors didn't get Derozan anywhere.

Wait and see what Pop can do with him.

        • @PainToad: Wait and see if Pop still cares. I got a feeling letting TP and Kawhi go and wife dying really did it for him.

        • just so inconsistent and has a habit of going missing in Finals. I'm a Knicks fan, Raps are my second team - but man, they did DeRozan dirty. The one loyal "star" that wanted to be there and they ship him off for a guy that openly doesn't want to be there. Hopefully Green can convince him to stay.

        • @Penpinch:

Kawhi is a POS. Glad he’s gone. As for TP, they offered him an assistant couching gig, but he wanted more play hours.

        • +2

@anawth: They did do Demar dirty. But it's for the best interest of the team. Raptors in demar's era peaked. They want to rip it all apart and rebuild and Kawhi is a free option (in case he decides to stay). As far as I'm concerned Raptors on a win win situation. Kawhi leaving is just as good for the team. They howevee did do Demar dirty.

Btw loyalty is overrated in this sport.

        • @Penpinch:

You’re assuming Kawhi even bothers to play and doesn’t fake another injury.

        • +1

@anawth: We got Knox who will win ROTY.

        • @Gringoesai: Man, don't discount Mitchell Robinson as a dark horse. Dude was great in Summer League

        • oof

        • +1

@anawth: Lonzo was great in Summer League too.

        • @Penpinch: Lakers defs woke with their 3 MVPs.

        • @JuliusSeizure: Lakers didn't sign Liangelo. They aren't making the playoffs. — Lavar

        • @Penpinch: Cannot wait for the Lavar and LeBron throw down.

        • @Penpinch: haha this is not the same thing. Besides them being completely different types of players, hype around Lonzo was enormous, hype around Robinson was less than zero.

        • @Penpinch: So was Simmons

    • Unlike the OKC failed "super-team", I think Lebron's a different kettle of fish…having said that, just look at that GSW team. Ridiculously stacked. I can't see them beating them.

      • OKC are better than Lakers

To the guys who are willing to pay slightly more to avoid the VPN hassle:

Sign up via Argentina. After the recent peso crash it works out to be USD65. Cheaper than Canada, Mexico, Indonesia, Vietnam, etc.

    • That price is not correct.

Signing through Argentina is ARS 2499.99/ USD $89.99/ AUD $129.99

Which is the same amount if you sign in through Mexico, Vietnam, Malaysia etc.

      • you may wanna check the ARSUSD latest rate.

        • +2

          Yes, you are correct.

If you choose to pay in Argentinian Pesos it comes to around AUD $88/ USD $63

If you change the paying currency to the USD or AUD then it was coming to $130/ $90

          Thanks for pointing that out.

    • Signed up for this $20 pass. Might contact support to cancel and hopefully get a refund and sign up with Argentina instead.I think it's too much hassle trying to watch games via VPN.

      • +2

"contact support" and "try to cancel" are unfortunately foreign concepts in NBA League Pass world. Obviously do try you may have different luck than me but LP has notoriously bad customer support to the point where it's like sending mail into a black hole.

        • I see. I got too excited coz it's cheap without reading upcoming comments.

        • @Bjay: That's what happened to me last year. I ended up opening a new account and pay again. It's still (way) cheaper than the Aus price.

        • @Penpinch: Actually I was told I'm gonna get a refund in 3-10 days. I'll probably renew with Mexico or go with Argentina this time.

        • @Bjay:

What did you say to support when you cancelled?

          • @pogiguy: I told them that Indian league pass was not watchable without vpn and they just gave me the refund

    • Free VPN with Argentina?

How much is the single team package?

      • No need for VPN to watch. I believe single team package is ARS1399.

        • You need a VPN to purchase but.

    • Thanks for the heads up :D

    • can u recommend a free vpn to sign up nba argentina?

    • Thank you! I think it's worth it over having to use VPN to watch games.

One question - when you entered your credit card details, did you leave Argentina (under the Country/Region drop down menu) or choose the country associated with your credit card?

  • Plenty of high quality free streaming out there. No point getting this unless you get the aussie one to use all the extra features
At your own convenience which is good but not $300 good.

    • -1

      Comparing fraud/theft/piracy to paid service?

      Riiiiight

      • If the free services are better, why should consumers pay for a sub-par service? League Pass is garbage.

If you want to get on your high-horse, I see you + this deal. Well technically even this deal is in breach of NBA's licence agreement.

        • So, my point stands.

And the deal is phenomenal. $20/yr for league pass. I don't use it, and won't use it. Never supported breaking the agreement.

          Just more of your foolishness.

  • What the the preferred VPN providers for high quality streaming?

I am looking at the following providers,
    (1) Private Internet Access
    (2) Express VPN
    (3) Nord VPN
    (4) Cyber Ghost VPN

Is BestVPN.com a unbiased reliable VPN review site? I don't trust the online reviews as they may have got sponsored to provide positive reviews.

Also I need to download the App from Apple AppStore that is geographically restricted to Canada so is there a free proxy server or vpn service that could be configured in iphone 7 (in iOS 11 or iOS 12) I can use to download is app from Australia which is less than 100MB

  • Bought 1 yr subscription throough MEX last yr for the first time - can someone lemme know if this renews automatically?

    • I received an email few weeks ago of a renewal. If you don't respond to their email I would say you're good for the coming season

      • So it wud be the same price as the prev season? So lost haha thanks for the help man

        • This time it's $110 via Mexico. Last year was I think around $90 after a promo code.

    • Yes it does. If that's not what you desire you NEED to log in and uncheck the auto renew option before Oct 1. Once it renews it's nearly impossible to cancel (thanks to LP customer support (lackthereof)).

      • Ok i think i bought it pretty cheap so might keep that - thanks

    • Go to your account settings and untick the automatic renewal box. I had the same sub from last year too. Once you've done that sign up for this one. I tested and it works fine in HD. $20 what a bargain

  • For anyone who would prefer to test out the quality of the service, the monthly subscription is actually better value ($1.99 p/m) when you consider the season only goes to June!

    • …if you only value latest/live matches

  • The Lakers need Brandon Ingram to be the Robin to LeBron's Batman this year.

    • He won't live up to expectations.

  • -1

Just bought the package. Thanks op.
Used Nord VPN free trial. Hola vpn didn't work.
Watching on the app is laggy but casting to the tv from the app works fine in HD quality.

    • If you’re only using the VPN trail, how do you plan on watching at the trial ends?

      • -1

Because you only need the VPN to sign up for the subscription.oncr that's done you don't need a VPN anymore. I just tested mobile streaming again and it's not lagging anymore now that I've disabled VPN :)

P.s I subscribed last year with a VPN as well doing the same thing. Never had a problem with streaming

        • +1

Because you only need the VPN to sign up for the subscription.oncr that's done you don't need a VPN anymore.

for a sub via india though? India subs (from all reports) need a vpn/indian connection to at least initiate the stream

        • -1

I've tested the streams with VPN disabled and it works fine.
My only active subscription is this current India one.

        • +1

          @dysfunktional:

Did you have a league pass subscription from last season? Pretty sure that’s still valid until October which may be why it is working without VPN.

        • -1

Because you only need the VPN to sign up for the subscription.oncr that's done you don't need a VPN anymore.

Did you even read the deal? India is different.

  • Did anyone sign up and their subscription not show up in their account?

Edit: I'm guessing the subscription only shows up when connected via Indian VPN. Can others confirm?

    • can confirm.

  • Has anyone got a promo code for 10% off like last season? Last year I got the discount email in early October, so maybe just need to wait
I got one with NBA 2k19, but it's only valid for AUS/NZ. (2K19FANS)

    Heads up guys!!

    http://whrl.pl/Rfetv2

    • This is worrying…

I haven’t had the courtesy email about viewing location being different to purchase (Mexico), but doesn’t make me feel any easier as their t&c’s could cut me off and I’d lose my sub without refund.

What to do, what to do…

      • Not just cut you off, but charge you an additional $100! I don’t see how it’s even legal…

    • Interesting.

I signed up last year via Mexico with VPN using a previous account tied to a AU subscription. It was also billed with an AU mastercard.

No use of VPN for viewing games. Had no issues all season. No blackouts.

Last week received an email for a 10% discount = $103.49 with no action required.

I don't know how they can throw these t&C's round. What If I'm on extended holidays somewhere with my card and want to watch a month of ball? I call BS!

      • Be careful: I received the same email and price then yesterday they billed me for 116.something: not impressed (have emailed support)

      • Yes I just got billed AU$116 - says 10% discount was applied.
I am same - VPN last yr via Mexico, but I was pretty sure I had been in and unticked the auto resubscribe.
Anyway I'll live with it as it's still good value and waving my arms around about incorrect billing seems a little stupid ;)

        • Today I received an email stating their was a problem with the billing. Only had $112 in my account so that prob explains it.

Logged into my account to check the subscription details and noticed the billing/location set to Au…Thought maybe they tried to charge AU.

Logged into account using VPN and change this to Mexico.

Did you change the billing location detail?

          • @Overproof: I didn't change anything. I don't even see anywhere that it says billing location.
This is what my subscription area looks like

            • @Fleishman: I think I know what's happened. When I received the email I've gone into the billing and clicked update info to ensure shit was kosher. It had Australia set for billing as I was logged in through the AU site.

I did the same thing logged in through a VPN and selected mexico and its as you have described with a new billing date

Here's hoping otherwise I'll get my cousin to go on a trip to Mexico and Pay the $116 ; )

  • I tried to login to my account today and it didn't work. I tried to login with a indian VPN and it says "User credentials are invalid". It worked fine the other day.

I tried to reset my password by going through the "forgot your password" and it says it sent the password to my email address but I didn't get a email.

  • When entering credit card details, should I leave Argentina (under the Country/Region drop down menu) or choose the country associated with my credit card?

Also, is there any option to use PayPal? I believe it was possible in the past but can't find such an option now.

  • To confirm, if you sign up with Argentina, you can stream games without a VPN? But for India, you will need a VPN to stream? Doesnt sound right

I understand that VPN is required to buy the subscription in both instances.

  • Trying to sign up but i get a loop from watch.nba.com to nba.com a few times until I get an error. Anyone has the same loop? Thanks

  • I had to clear my phone cache.
However I am connected via Indian VPN but still showing me shading riyal but no rupees.
Also exchange is not $20 but Au$295 from the Saudi riyal 789
