check it lol. and what the hell happened to Gaiety? Arnotts seems to have stopped making it. damn it

• Are you serious? I bought a pack maybe 2 weeks ago from woolies. My fav bickie.

• there is still gaiety, i bought it a week ago.

• Just about the only thing from Arnotts which still tastes good, the rest is getting worse and worse.

• And don't forget the pancake shake.

• it's cheaper at coles $1.45 each and no need to buy 2

• Didn't Coles discount that to $0.72 a while back or am I dividing by 2 twice?

• Environmental hazard and a rip off in 1 bottle.

Why are prawns always on special ?

• Its because they are easier to catch these days.

• I try to avoid the imported stuff, I hope the Extra Large Cooked Aussie Tiger Prawns are ALL Aussie, a lot of coles and woolies have "Local and Imported Products" on their signs at the counter, like the deli bacon, surely we have enough Aussie bacon!

• Is the quality of the imported stuff inferior?

• -2

Farmed with Antibiotica and Hormones, in ponds with who knows what other chemicals ?
Best is Wild Caught Australian Prawns. Nothing beats that. Not even Crystab Bay Prawns.

tigermilk, after studying Aquaculture for four years, I can say that imported Prawns are in no way inferior to the domestically produced product. To break it down into its most simple form, the reason you hear the old wives tales about chemicals and hormones and polluted water etc etc is because local producers don't want you buying imported products, and these local producers are the people who came up with those elaborate fables. Who can blame them? Imported products are produced cheaper (labout costs/cost of land/cost of equipment/cost of boats etc) and often after costs of importation they are still much cheaper than the domestic product. However, there is a great reason to buy domestic products: You keep Australians in jobs. I must admit though, through my Uni days (still ongoing), when you are short of money, there's not much you can do but go for the cheapest so it's definitely a + from me

I wish they would just put single items on sale, I don't like having to buy multiple to get the discount.

And they wonder why the world is getting fatter:

Arnott’s Tim Tam Varieties 150g-200g, 3 for $4.98 (Save $3.69, 43% off)

Looks like I'll be stocking up on golden circle again:

Golden Circle Drink - Excludes Pineapple Juice 1 Litre 1l, $1 (Save 85¢, 46% off)

Great for kids/traveling.

• Moro Olive Oil 4L REGULAR price has come down to $23 at woolies..was sick of this being on specials all the time.

• +1

awww, i miss the weekly half-price olive oils. it's only on special for 13% off this week lol

• I read that the olive oil is very shit quality anyway.

• +1

It's as good as anything else you get at the supermarket. I use it in cooking and preparation, but if you want really good olive oils (to use in dressings, something that needs the oil specifically for the flavour etc) go to a farm that stocks directly from an olive farm. That's where I get my oil for dressings from. There is just no comparison.

Yes, it's on special this week for $20. It's about time the retail price came down to something realistic.

Interesting fact:

Since 2009, and up until this week, the average retail price of 4l Olive Oil has been $45.15. Has there been this much margin on olive oil since then? Would be interesting to ask a wholesaler/supplier from each company!
