Dream Vacations Australia

Hi,
Has anyone had dealings with Dream Vacations Australia. I purchased 3 nights accomodation in Melbourne and received confirmation. Then emailed the hotel and they said it was a scam and they have no record of this booking???
Thanks,

Do they have a website? I can't even find them on google.

Since we use the word holiday rather than the American vacation, sounds dodgy already …

    • or the word "Dream"

  • Tried googling like HighAndDry. No agencies trading under that name. I doubt ASIC would turn anything up either.

    You have been bamboozled.

  • How did you pay??

    Was it this lot ?http://www.dreamvacationtravelagency.com

    • That terrible website rings alarms straight away.

  • How did you find them? Did they cold call you?

Often travel agents don't get a booking to a hotel until a few days before your stay … but it's also unusual for the hotel to say it's a 'scam' … maybe they've had other encounters with the agency.

  • This is their website.

The deal was posted here on ozbargain. A deal for melbourne and for Sydney.

    • The website that has a big banner across the top saying this site was designed with Wix?

        LOL first red flag already.

And also browser titled: My Site.

        Great scam!

Ah. I think the website operates as basically a broker for people who own serviced apartments. A lot of inner-CBD buildings are structured this way, with some rooms owned/managed by a hotel, others owned and managed privately.

If you call up the hotel, you may well only be contacting the commercially managed side of the building whereas the website has you booked into a privately owned/managed unit.

Or it could just be a scam, but it's not necessarily a scam. Call up the website or hit up the rep here.

    • link the deal

No one has picked this up.

  • WARNING WARNING WARNING! I made a two night booking with this mob 10 days ago for the 2 night apartment stay in Sydney (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/403518) and showed up to the venue today. Found a non-descript electronicly secured entrance to a residential apartment building. Tried to call the number provided on their "website" only to find out it's a third party answering service who's only option for contacting the Agent was via email! Waited over an hour with no response. Found an email address for Dream Vacations on their Facebook page (was not available on their "website") and wrote to the the supposed owner directly. Finally got a response 15 minutes later saying that all bookings made for Melbourne and Sydney had been cancelled and she had emails showing that she had communicated this fact. NOT TRUE!! (and she failed to produce any such evidence). She claimed a refund was in process but time will tell. By all means, please stay away from this dodgy outfit! If anyone has has suggestions on actions to take against this company I'm all ears! We drove over an hour to get to this place for shows we had booked in the city. Because of the long weekend, no last minute accommodation was available and we had no option but to drive all the way back home. Grrrrr!

    • Any response from the rep? They’ve logged in recently. Not a good look for them (her).

      • None.
