        I don't understand all this QC stuff this is the first USB-C phone I've used so it's all confusing as hell. How long do you reckon it would take in hours? as long as it's under 3 hours then I'm more than fine with it.

          @Bigboomboom: Oh then I'll buy one. My s8 was bought used and did not come with a genuine samsung cable. Was recommended a lot of blitzwolf stuff but the problem with those is that they're either all from Chinese websites that would take a month to deliver to here or they're just a lot more expensive than this on amazon. Correct me if I'm wrong but the blitzwolf equivalent of this on amazon is $13.

          @Lolno234: That is if you buy Blitzwolf on Amazon, any other Chinese website would be $4-$5 for USB-C to A 2.0, but takes long time to arrive (anywhere from 2 weeks to 6 weeks). If you want even faster (1 hour 40 mins) you need USB-C to C cable.

          @Lolno234: Because you asked about charging on S8, so I tested the cable on my ZY1276 meter to check.

          S8 supports up to QC 2.0 only so this particular cable should be okay. However, I disagree with OP's comment that any USB-IF certified cable would be solid. Also, I am a bit surprised this cable supports QC 2/3.

          Also, while AmazonBasics cables are USB-IF certified, some are not great quality. As I pointed out in my other comments, I found some of their cables's USB-PD capability unreliable at times. I wouldn't use AmazonBasics USB-C/USB-C USB 2.0 for USB-PD charging.

          Buy only if you are happy with the price, quality is average.

    I have an AmazonBasic USB Type C to USB A 2.0 Male Cable BLACK cable. Here is my quick review.

    • Build quality is average. I wouldn't say it is better than Blitzwolf one.
    • YZXstudio ZY1276 Plus (USB Power Meter) reported that this cable supports up to QC 3.
    • As with any USB-C to USB-A cable, USB-PD is NOT supported.

    Buy only if you are happy with the price, quality is average.

      It's also cheaper than the latest Blitzwolf Ampcore deal, with 2 days delivery and 12 Months AU Warranty by Amazon. Knowing Amazon, they probably give you full refund/replacement without asking for return, hassle free. Also Blitzwolf Ampcore has higher failure rate judging by Amazon reviews (but of course it could also be Amazon pumping its own cable review).

        Um, my experience is different. Even with a posting error from Amazon (US) - i.e. they posted the wrong item to me, they still wanted me to return the item to them (despite the fact it costs more (than the cost of the item itself) to send it back to Amazon US). They did pay for the return postage.

        I bought 4 USB-C type Amazon Basics cables. They are quite average to be honest (especially the USB 2.0 ones). Their USB 3.0 ones are better quality (but Google or Apple ones are much better for sure). The USB-C to USB-C / USB 2.0 ones were dirt cheap at one stage ($1 USD or less). However, when using them on a Donglebook (i.e. Macbook Pro), they do occasionally fail to engage USB-PD fast charge mode. Not easy to tell unless you have a USB-C meter like ZY1276. Google and Apple cables do not have the same issue. I wouldn't recommend Amazon Basics USB-C to USB-C / USB 2.0 cable for charging if you have a Macbook Pro (stick with Apple original - unless you don't care about USB-PD or you don't mind carrying a USB-C power meter to check whether USB-PD is working properly with the cable).

          Amazon are increasingly insisting on returns, even though the return postage cost is essentially a total loss, presumably to discourage returns. There are also reports of Amazon accounts being closed for initiating too many returns, although I have not had any issues.

          Yeah well to be fair there were literally whole scams setup that were/maybe still are quite mainstream that took advantage of Amazon's customer service. People were claiming items didn't arrive when they actually did and Amazon would just give the money back no questions asked basically.

          Like anything good people take advantage and ruin it for everyone.

          @josho9: I literally just had Amazon US refunded money on my Logitech mouse before stumbling on this cable deal on Amazon AU. I did initiate a claim with Logitech for warranty first. Due to it being bought from Amazon US, Logitech told me to go through Amazon to avoid shipping fees, and Amazon US just gave me refund without return.

      I tested with ZY1276, which reported support up to QC 3. To re-confirm, I checked with it + charging over a phone supporting QC 2.0 - and I see 8.9V (9V) basically.

      I only plan use this cable mainly for data (especially on a laptop supporting USB-C).

        Hmm, it shouldn't be surprising. All cables will support the higher voltages involved. It's the current that cheap thin cables struggle with.

        No special cable is needed for QC2 or 3. If a cable can do normal fast charging (5V 2A), it will be able to do QC2 and QC3. That's because fast charging (known as QC1 to …nobody), QC2, and QC3 (and QC4 and 4+ in fact) use a maximum of 2A. QC4 devices do support USB-PD 3.0 27W which uses a max of 3A though, but we're talking about QC here.

          QC is independent of the connector. If the charger and device can talk to each other through the data lines, they can negotiate the voltage. It doesn't care about certification or 56k resistors.

          Furthermore, ZY1276 reported it can do up to 12V.

          Maybe I'm missing something, but why would that be unusual?

      No, you need the other AmazonBasics USB-C to C which I can confirm rapidly charge Pixel 2 with Anker USB-C PD Car Charger and Google Charger. The Pixel 2/XL needs 18W to rapidly charge as min, which is higher specs than USB-A.

    I am not sure about the quality of Amazon Basic Cables
    but the UGreen Type C cable that was $1.3 (OZB deal) has been doing well for me
    I am able to fast charge my Galaxy S9 and also work as a data transfer cable without any issues
