Dont understand it from logical point of view, but totally understand it from business profit/loss point of view.
One side you have these screens trying to give more space but gives ugly looking shape top on your phone, and sells above $900 mark.
The other side, you have all-screen phone under $900, vivo nex and oppo find x, check them out.
Just a thought, isn't that apply/google supposed to give something innovative like turn all-screen phone even without bezel? Too big ask? Really? When some chinese phone can do it already?

Remember when google had the phone the nexus 4 that was considered a bargain within a year of release at $249. Now a few years down the line around 4 times that price from a year old google phone is considered a bargain. Wow!
