I suppose the absolute cost of the device is absolutely ridiculous, but if you're looking to buy one then this is better than paying $1800 from the apple store.

Yeah, as long as you don't mind a screen an eighth the size of a normal laptop, no keyboard, having to use the mobile site of everything. A single proprietary I/O option, so no expansion capability, No way of installing your own apps, and a heavily curated app store. But hey, at least they say it's the fastest phone ever. which means a lot when there's no discernible difference between the last iPhone, since they all run the same version of the same OS with no major differences.

Oh, I think the A12 Chip in it is probably a great chip, but the problem it's being used to only power iOS, which is just another smartphone OS. If they did something like Samsung Dex and allowed a desktop experience with a dock, or even allowed it to boot into full MacOS, then I would call the asking price at least partially justified.

I think only 20 in stock. So doesn't take long to go out of stock for a recently released phone. I think this year phones have done poorly compared to the previous years.

People who complain about the price of the iphone, do they also complain about the price of an Audi? or a BMW? Stick to your Toyotas,and Android phones.
When apple gets away with pricing smart phones the way the way they have done. It gives fuel for the likes of samsung, lg, huawei and the rest of them to push the envelop in pricing their flagships.
Their justification would be they offer more/better features. Things like better screen, expandable memory, fast charger included.
That is an idiotic analogy. I drive a BMW and own an Android. I own an iPhone not because of price but because of its lack of features and OS limitations. Look at the iPhone XR has a 720p display that is LCD for well over 1k.

The value of the iPhone is more than the sum of its hardware.
You are paying for iOS, build quality, Brand name etc.
I am not debating the iPhones feature set, just the fact that complaining about its price is ridiculous.
