  • No XL :(

  • How similar are the sizes compared to CT shirts?

I got my sizing worked out with CT but never really bought from TM before.

    • +2

Size is almost similar used to only buy CT super slim, bought 2 TML, $40 each from last sale (super fitted) what they have is the same, quality is even better or same.

      • Great Thanks. That will put things in perspective when buying then.

    • +1

TM Lewin is a better fit. Collars aren't fused. More casual collar. Shorter length than CT so expect to be tucking in your shirt a lot if you get the wrong size. Cotton is also a bit thicker and cosy.

      • Good to know. I think CT shirts were a bit too long anyways so this will be better actually.

That said, how is the return policy with TM? Couldn't find anything at a quick glance on their website.

    • Comparing the CT super slim and TML super fitted shirts I've got, I'd say that TML is definitely slimmer. But. And it's a big but (and I cannot lie), I think that's just because it seems to be a smaller shirt overall. The sleeves aren't as long and it's way too short to stay tucked in unfortunately.

That's where the CT definitely wins, it's a long shirt, so if you're tall and skinny it's good.

One thing that I don't think I've seen mentioned before is that the CT shirt seems to have rather a large cuff diameter (as in when the button is done up). Going to have to resew them so they don't look so goofy.

      • I am average height and average build, not fat or skinny so I guess should be ok. I am ordering same size as CT collar and sleeve, am hoping they fit well.

  • $149 for a suit is ridiculous

    • there's a suit section in Kmart

    • I have a few shirts I have been quite happy with. Are TML suits decent quality?

      • yes, tml are good quality

      • They're very good quality for this price. Make sure you choose a pure wool fabric.

    • +1

      suits me!

    • +2

      Ridiculously high or low?

      • Good price for the quality but might be difficult to find some sizes in stock.

  • +3

Personally, I prefer the non-irons from CT. The fabric seems to hold up better after multiple washes.

    • Agreed but they still only seem to last about 5-10 washes. Not that I follow directions, I might try that next time I order some. Problem is I wanna just chuck them in with the rest of my washing and use normal settings.

  • +1

I don't understand their sizing. I usually wear size 44 or now 46. What do people recommend?

    • Divide in inches

    • +2

go in-store to measure if in Sydney

    • +3

I usually wear size 44 or now 46. What do people recommend?

      I'd recommend a D-cup.

    • +3

17 1/2" collar at TM Lewin is equivalent to a 44, and 18" is equivalent to a 46.

Their slim fits seem to be a bit slimmer than Charles Tyrwhitt (if you've ever tried any of theirs) - a slim fit TML seems to correspond to an extra slim fit CT. That's probably more a case of CT running bigger, rather than TML being particularly small.

In the size guide, they list the actual measurements of the shirt (chest, waist and collar), which is helpful if you can compare it to measurements of another brand you like and fit into well. I usually ignore the "to fit" part of the guides and compare actual measurements between brands - it seems to be more reliable.

      • Agreed in regards to sizing comparison. Super slim at CT fit me perfectly whereas same size super fitted at TML was too small.

  • How are returns with TM?

    • if Sydney (for me), i take it back to the store and they'll ship it back and refund you back into the same payment method.

    • Returns were excellent for me. Had a delivery arrive looking like it had been lost at sea with a ‘we received it like this’ sticker. TM Lewin we’re happy to refund to me. I’m sure they would have exchanged it if needed. I kept one of the shirts as it was fine

  • No suits for me.

    Wish I had a 30inch waist.

    • Yeah same. I'm in the market for a decent suit around the $200 mark. Anyone got any ideas or suggestions as to where I should be looking?

      • +3

depends on what you will use it for? Try DFO..$200 and decent doesn't go together for suits generally. You may get some polyester crap.

      • +2

Seems counter intuitive if you are after a cheap suit but check out David Jones when they have end of season clearances -definitely a diamond in the rough situation but have picked up some great deals and doubly so when they price error (which is every now and then). Just use fashionlane and price hipster to keep check

        edit: happy hunting

No such thing as a decent $200 suit. You want 100% wool or it will look like a cheap shit suit. About $300-$400 is where that starts coming in to play. A $300-$400 suit plus a trip to a tailor will have you looking pretty good.

    • Wish I had a 30inch waist.

So of all the things you would want to be 30 inches, and you choose waist?

      • Not the hop of my list but you'll pick up a shit loads of bargains.

  • Does this stack with UniDays?
Are the stores usually happy for you to come in, try on to purchase online? I really prefer to get the size right than bouncing parcels back and forth

    • yup..did it last year

    • Yep just tried it, comes down to $134.10 Delivered using the UniDays code

      • Care to share the code?

        • +1

Cant you get your own if you're a uni student?? They are single use each time you use them.

    • +1

TM Lewin have ipads in their stores which you can then use to order directly from their website a product you just tried on

  • But I want 5x shirts for $130 :(

    • +1

      awww..

    • GST now mang!

    • If you have a UniDays account you will pay around $134.

  • +1

Whats the (quality) comparison between an RL poplin and TML

  • It doesn't appear to be the full range, I only get 2 shirts in my size & also non-iron.

    • MEN'S SHIRTS 5 FOR $199 covers the full range

  • -1

Anyone thinks the guys in suits have their heads attached to someone else's bodies?

  • Just letting all those who have access to a UniDays account know you can get an extra 15% off. I paid around $134 for the 5 shirts.

    • It doesn't work with the $40 for all shirts deal. ;(

      • I tried it with the $149 for 5 shirts, unfortunately didn't try the $40 for all shirts.

    • The additional student discount worked for me and it came to 134.20 for the 5 shirts delivered if I recall - great price

  • Free return and refund if a size doesn't fit well?

    • No, this is where I will clearly prefer CT over TM Lewin. I found the whole return process very easy to do and it is free of charge.

  • Be advised that TM Lewin is made for the British climate which is much colder than here…you do not want to wear their shirts during Australian summers. I tried, it was not a good idea. Even their thinnest cotton fabric available was quite thick and too hot for the summer.

    • I agree, but I wear them in western sydney and survive.

  • +1

I'm only after 1 shirt, maybe 2. If anyone in Sydney CBD wants a few to fill up the 5 shirt quota hit me up!

    • Can't seem to PM you

Can you please message me and we can chat! I am hoping to buy 2-3 shirts based in Sydney too!

      Thanks

      • I'm also interested!

        • Gents, PM sent, thanks!

went to the store in chaddie, they only stock slim fits! apparently only the store in the city stocks regular fit. very disappointing.

  • Just wanted to let everyone know who is looking to purchase. The shirt quality is ok but compared to the 3 for $99 non iron shirts deal of CT the shirt I got from this deal lack in quality very so slightly. These are around 90% of the quality of CT.

Further the returns process is non existent, should you need to return for whatever reason, damaged goods or size change you will be paying out of pocket to post the shirts back to the UK. This will no doubt cost $40-$50 with tracking given the size of the box these come in.

The customer service 'chat' is fairly quick to be speaking with someone but their attitude and standard of service once again lacks that certain element you would be expecting of a high end shirt designer. From their responses you feel as though you are a bother to them. Responses are short and blunt.

Overall, Shirts are ok but I wont be buying from TML anymore, CT is hassle free returns and slightly better quality.

  • Has anyone tried TML's suits and can comment on the fit? Does slim fit suit correspond to slim fit shirts and the super fitted shirt correspond to the skinny suits?
