Premium Barossa Shiraz Grenache 2012 from 126 Year Old Vines for $104.40/Dozen ($8.70/Bottle) Delivered @ Skye Cellars

90

Rich black cherry and red berry notes with plum and blueberry followed by rich chocolate and lifted spice.
This wine is one of the best wines we have had this year! Only 1152 bottles were made of this wine so yeah it's rare. Don't get fooled by the price because this wine is worth heaps more than $8.70.

2012 was an excellent year for the barossa. antique vines. how could this not be incredible value?

  • "This wine was made by 126-year-old dry grown vines."

That I want to see - 126 year old vines that turn themselves into wine. Who needs winemakers.

lol those labels 'Please keep me a secret, im too good for this price'

Id rather see the label then BS about not wanting us to tell a friend so they can remain unsold and no money is made.

Ditto. This is the wine world equivalent of speakers from a white van.

Langmeil Winery has the oldest shiraz wines in the world at 176 years old. They were killed off in France in the early 1900s due to some virus which decimated the industry. For comparison the Langmeil wines start around $30 each and are very very good. Im going to try these and see.

    • phylloxera (an aphid like pest, not a virus) wiped out the european vines. Lets hope our biosecurity keeps it away from our vines

Why the gold medals have poison image on it?

    • lol good pickup. What an odd thing to have on a gold medal award.

    • Haha I saw that too. ☠️

    • Errr, no for a VERY obvious reason (grape type)

        Excellent point and well made

        • Nice drop though. ;)

    • my guess is a langmeil wine to, cause of the age of the grapes
the price is a bit cheap though!

  • Update: The wine is from a very small boutique winery. Maybe you haven't heard of them but their 1.2ha vineyard is over 126 year old.

    • aahh icic got case to try thanks

  • OP more info on the mclaren vale 2014 secret dozen @ $15ea? Better wine than the $8.70 deal?

RRP of wine means nothing, so even though it's $50 it might not be that great. Thx

    • Hi kickling,
That is a great Shiraz, it's previous vintage scored 93pt from James Halliday at $50 a bottle.
When we tried the 14 vintage we decided to get the lot hence why we can do that price.
Plus we do offer free returns. If not happy with the wine we offer full refund or replacement.
      Thanks.

  • Reckon this is Outlaw Wines. New one on me. Can't knock it til you try it.
