SYD to AKL Business Class from $735 Return on LATAM @ Kayak.com.au (Dates in Oct/Nov)

110

If you're wondering what plane, it would appear to regularly be the dreamliner (http://www.traveller.com.au/airline-review-latam-economy-san…) and they're also talking about upgrading business seats (https://www.ausbt.com.au/latam-reveals-new-business-class-se…).

However, on to the deal. This can often be 4 figures, but for certain dates, as in the example link, you can get it from $735. Return. In business. You pay that much in economy at Christmas!

LATAM J is usually around 700-800 return. so while a decent price, it's not the amazing bargain the OP makes it out to be…as for the potential upgraded J seats, that's not happening in the near future. the new seats are for the newly ordered A350 and 787-900, not retrofitted to the existing 787-800 which are relatively new.

I've flown this a few times, and the cabin isn't the flashiest. the best thing about J on LATAM is actually the Qantas lounge access… :P

the best thing about J on LATAM is actually the Qantas lounge access

I bought lifetime Qantas Lounge Access in the late '90's for what I then thought was a ridiclous amount but at least it was tax deductible and I was using Qantas often. 30 years later, I don't use it much at all, as I never seem to fly Qantas as their prices are way more expensive than anyone else, their flight times doesn't suit and thier interconnections don't work for me. Mostly I fly out of OOL and there isn't a Qantas Lounge their to use even if I fly Jetstar.

On the flip side, my friend at the time bought his with Ansett, he doesn't use his at ALL :)

That said, someone is using these longues, last year in Brisbane I was off to Manilla (PAL Business uses the Qantas Lounge) and the longue was standing room only, I had a coffee and went outside to read my book where it was quieter :)

      • Are you able to say how much was the lifetime pass was?

        • I think before it was killed it was $6- or $7000 and had fairly quickly increased to that point from roughly half that.

        Your friend… that’s priceless 😵
Cleared out my Ansett global rewards points 2 days before their collapse, albeit stranded in Tassie

      • There is a Qantas lounge in OOL…

    • Qantas lounge is ok. Still no match to the ones in APAC hubs.

CX and SQ are the most preferred airlines amongst people at work. Not many preference on QF.

      • yeah, but no point talking about CX or SQ lounge since this is a Oneworld alliance airline flying out of SYD to AKL, and so you only have access to the qantas lounge. Besides, the silverkris lounge (SQ) in SYD is pretty average…

  • Can be had for $700-750 is generally the regular price with LA on SYD-AKL. $600-700 fares can be had when on sale.
