    <insert obligatory xiaomi/arlo/hikvision reccomendation here>

    • Ezviz is part of Hikvision.
I actually prefer Hikvision POE cameras, I subnetted and blocked all internet access from the individual cameras. And run my own PCNVR, so there is only 1 connection to the internet and reduces entry points to hack the system (especially the Chinese Government Dial Homes).

I think POE is the best way to go in the long run, for future proofing.

      • What PC NVR do you use? I have an ESXi host or a ubuntu bare-metal box I could use. Though I may have storage issues with a VM as I would not have the right drives.

        • I'm using BlueIris for PC NVR.
BlueIris does chew up heaps of CPU if you use its native features such as motion detection. Although it provides a lot better MD than onboard algorithms on cameras, it does eat alot of CPU,

If your system isn't that powerful, you could do things like Direct 2 Disk recording and turn on camera MD so BlueIris doesn't do encoding but simply works as a regular "NVR".

          • @lplau: i also have POE cameras. pm me if you have any interest.

  • peronally prefer wifi camera's simplicity over these, too much wiring and connection.wondering what hard drive they used in these dvr box?

    • The hdd is WD purple surveillance hdd.

    • I never trusted Wifi for Security. Because a thief could just arm themselves with a $5 Wifi Jammer that hooks into their mobile phone or a small power bank and there goes the video streams.

A lot harder to do that with a wired system.

Only benefits I see with a Wifi system would be the ease of install, other than that, feature wise and future proofing would go to POE Wired.

      • this Camera also come with connector, so you can plug in with ethernet cable if you want, run a cable from your router to camera.

  • tempted, anyone have any info or feedback on these?

    • u can try to search other expired post for some feedback.

  • How long is the power cable for the cameras please?

    • total length of the power cable is 1.7m, from camera to adapter.

  • I'm in need of security cameras for home, but my budget is around $200.

    • you can probably go with 2 cameras without nvr, but need to buy two Micro sd card.

  • Too Expensive …….

    • cannot compare with other kit for price. Different products.
