meanwhile, i updated to a soundbar recently, and im amazed at how much bass comes from the actual bar, without the need for the subwoofer.

I bought a 2.1 vizio soundbar and the subwoofer is quite passive, yet for the size of my room its perfect.

      • Where do you buy Vizio soundbars in Aust?

        • Where do you buy Vizio soundbars in Aust!

          • @Dean29: Sorry Im OS. bought from ebay US. ive only heard the Yamaha ones instore, but they are definitely comparable in terms of performance IMO

Use the ebay link with P5OFF to get it down to $236.55 + delivery. Ebay

    • Argh! I've just set it up… Oh well, still happy with $100 off. I'd been waiting for this one. :-)

Does anyone know how this compares to Wharfedale Vista 100? It's $299 from a previous deal at digitialcinema, but can't find anything online to compare

    • +1

I'm actually a Wharfedale fan but the Vista 100 is only half the power of the 108 (60 watt vs 120 watt).

      • Yes thank you for pointing that out ! So the volume of this is greater, and sound quality on par? Just because I've heard Wharfedale is a good value audiophile product

        • +1

Sound quality and power are actually related. All things being equal, the higher-powered amplifier will have less distortion at the same volume than the lower-powered one.

Wharfedale makes audiophile-grade equipment but we're talking entry-level stuff here. I'm sure it's good for what it is though.

@elektron: thank you so much for taking the time to answer my questions, I am going to bite the bullet on these!

            • @ericshurn: Good luck. It probably won't blow you away but the choices are limited in this price range. Earlier this year there were deals on YAS-207 from $320, which would have been a much better value proposition but not for a while now.

I'm currently using the Sony HT-CT790 with 2 optional matching wireless surround speakers for a proper 5.1 setup and quite happy with the results. The Sony soundbar itself (it comes with a wireless sub) set me back $330 for a factory second with full warranty and is rated at 330 watt.

still waiting for $99 YAS-107s again

  • Decent price but the only notable difference compared to the 107 is Bluetooth 5.0, which won't make a difference to most people.

    bring back YAS-207 bargain ; )

  • I've set this up and it sounds great! Very happy. I'm glad I waited for this.

Also of note is 3.5% cash rewards and keitari's comment re ebay 5% off.

  • Whats the diff between YAS 108 and ATS 1080. I am bit confused as both have same specs.

    • It does look the same. Perhaps ATS 1080 is an update to the YAS 108? It has a 'new' badge on the Yamaha website.

      • Then there is another deal which makes it $180 + $9 delivery with PEARTREE code

Correct me if i am wrong
