  • OMFG. I wasn't sad about the other monitor deals because they didn't have VESA, or weren't ultra-wide, or….

BUT THIS. GAH. ARGH. ARGGHGHALKFHSD. AND WITH G-SYNC TOO.

I should make it a rule to take a few days weeks off OzBargain every time I make a big-ish purchase.

1080p over 34" might not be your taste

      • Wait, is it not a 1440p vertical res?

Hmmmmmm….. ok that's a good point. Though ultrawide so it's technically not that much taller than a 24" vertically…

Ok, I guess I don't feel quite as bad.

        • +1

My 34 inch ultra-wide is exactly the same height as my two side 27" monitors. The 1080 vertical res is not really an issue for me but it may be for so people.

      • +1

I have the 69G, 1080 vertical is not too bad, though of course 1440 would be nicer. However would cost about twice as much.

I bought the 34 69G non curved non Gsync but still pretty happy with it, it was half the price of this.

My ultrawide was slightly vertically taller than my 24”

  • Really good deal, I suspect the new generation of the Ultra Wide may be close

    • +3

Not sure about 1080p ones, but the next generation 1440p ones are due starting November. Nano-IPS, 98% DCI-P3 coverage, 550nit peak brightness.

      • -1

My bad - I assumed it was 1440p given the price, detail was added after. I retract my +1

  • Fakkkk what a price!
    I paid 800 on ag271q

  • I'd steer away from any ultra wide 34 without 3440x1440 resolution. Wouldn't cost much more.

    • +3

      trade the 1440p for 144hz + gsync

      pick 1

or pick both for 3x price

      • +1

100hz 3440*1440 is more than adequate. Gsync too. Typical Asus/Acer spec.

        • 120Hz at 3440x1440 for the Alienware AW3418DW

      • +1

I mean, not really. For specifically 144Hz, then perhaps yes, but you're only looking at about $400 more for a pretty massive resolution increase with the Acer X34P (120Hz OC @ 3440x1440 and G-Sync). I'd take that in a heartbeat over this: the whole purpose of an ultrawide is screen real estate, so (pricepoint aside) I don't see a lot of point in effectively downsizing with a lower resolution.

        • Having a lower resolution of 1080p means that games will run ALOT smoother as they do not tax your graphics card as much. If you are not running with the ultra elite i7, 1080ti etc etc crowd than this would probably be a better fit.

It means you wouldn't have to upgrade your entire rig just to make sure a game will run well on your monitor.

          • @Arcticfox: You don't need the best with a G sync equipped monitor to enjoy it. I had a 1080 and now use a Max q 1080 (effectively 1070) and they are perfectly fine.

    • Wouldn’t cost much more? Have you checked the price?

      • +1

Seen the resolution side by side? I've used The ASUS since launch, it's in a different league.

1080 vertical is extremely average on the desktop at this size.

I remember them going for $1k months ago.

        • I run 2560 x 1080p it more than good.
2560 x 1440K are terrible value for money and unnecessary at the moment.
U need to sell your kidney to run it at 144 fps (expensive GFX).

          • +1

@neostarsx: I never said a 144hz equivalent. I suggested higher resolution at 100hz is better.

Your definition of good is different to others. 1440p at 27' is most people's ideal dpi, expand that to 34' and you see why I suggest 1440.

            • @scuderiarmani: Unless I’m mistaken last I checked there isn’t a 100hz “equivalent”. Samsung has a 34 curved ultrawide 100hz but is pva panel, most LG ips are 120hz plus, asus rog monitors have about a 15% major failure rate, x34s are over 1k.

Not saying 1440p is bad, certainly good. But it costs 2-3x more than the 34um69G…. if it was like $200 more I would agree with you, but it’s at least 600+ more. But certainly, this monitor doesn’t represent good value at all

              • @KnifeEnthusiastBoi: You can buy 34 inch 1440p 100hz around $1k. Asus and Acer have hit that price. With IPS. The newer versions imo are a downgrade, no IPS for one.

i got the 29" and 34" of the 75hz 1080p lg ultrawides. the res isnt ideal on the 34 but doesnt bother me too much both bought around $400 2 years apart. i think for the money you be better off with 75hz model for half the price or spend a little more to get the 1440p 144hz.

What a deal! Got one on the way… It's going to replace my ageing Samsung 950 120hz monitor. Will give feed back once it arrives.

    • Had one of those prior to switching to the Asus equivalent. Was such a great monitor. Looked beautiful too.

Received this 2 days after I ordered it. Order was from SYD to BRIS. Great shipping service and price. Just installed it and going to test it out gaming wise.
