Qantas vs Amex Lounge

The Westpac Altitude Black Mastercard + Amex essentially gives two complimentary passes each to both Qantas Club and Amex Lounge.

I am flying from Melbourne to Shanghai with a 90 minute stopover in Sydney so I'm wondering whether to access the Qantas Club or Amex Lounge and in Melbourne or Sydney.

The Melbourne Amex Lounge is new and the Qantas Club was recently renovated so I think choosing a Melbourne lounge would make the most sense.

If I picked Sydney, then it seems Qantas is better than Amex according to this poll

So for those of you who have been to both, which one would you recommend in Melbourne? Or are the Sydney ones better? Which one has better food?

    Use the amex lounge and then sell your qantas lounge tickets…..

    Amex lounge in Sydney is Sh**. Flies feel at home their and self invite on the limited food options avlble. Carpet flooring looks like has been not cleaned for years…

    for drinks only it is fine depending on how much time u hv to kill…

    this is from late last year !

    Amex lounge is not that bad…. I liked it a lot. Pretty sure you can't get into the international business lounge with Qantas club.

      Anyways sounds like the amex lounge is pretty bad for Sydney. I can't even access the Melbourne amex lounge considering I'm flying to Sydney from Melbourne so will be in the domestic terminal. Looks like I'll try and get into the Sydney lounge then.

    Amex Lounge in Melbourne is crap. Very limited food, lots run out, dirty tables, bad service, amateur bar staff.. wouldn't pay more than 20$ to go there
