  • Mentioning credit card and Virgin Blue… Virgin Money's credit card is way better in terms of getting rewarded with Velocity Points and free flights.

  • this promotion has been around since the 16th of Feb. I would imagine the first 500 registered Amex holders have come and gone.

The deal is for the first 500 to qualify. Not the first 500 to register.

You qualify when you book your flight.

So just because you're successful in registering doesn't mean you'll make the first 500 to qualify by booking a ticket. Registration is limited to 3000, so a successful registration just means you were one of the first 3000 to register, which doesn't mean anything.

My confirmation email from AMEX makes this clearer. It says:

You've successfully registered your Card ending in <xxxxx>.

Remember to spend $150 or more at virginblue.com.au or call 13 67 89 before 31 March 2011 to qualify for a $50 Virgin Blue voucher. Be quick, this offer is only valid for the first 500 Cardmembers that qualify.

  • fyi you can get another $50 if you book your virgin blue flight via wotif today i think.

    • Wotif flight charges $17 for booking fee! So that makes it only a $33 discount…

  • I bought tickets on Friday, received an email today saying my voucher will be here in 4-8 weeks so it looks like it is still going.
