Best choice to leave your phone number in car for temporary parking car

Why would I ever need this?

    • +22

For selfish jerks that double park, occupy someone else's spot, block driveways/entrances/etc, all for their own convenience.

      • +5

Wow, I've never heard of anyone doing that.
So is the idea that you can do any of those illegal parks, but by leaving your phone number visible, you won't get a smashed windscreen?

        What about a parking ticket?

        Or towed away?

        • +5

So is the idea that you can do any of those illegal parks, but by leaving your phone number visible, you won't get a smashed windscreen?

That's what these jerks expect. And they expect you to call them to move their car.

          What about a parking ticket?
          Or towed away?

          Will still get ticketed/towed away.

          • @m9: Yeah maybe a week or two later if your a "single mum with three kids and an elderly mother who needs regular medical visits" —oh AND you will also have to kick up a BIG stink about it etc, no way they will tow a car away in any decent time frame most that will happen is they will get a ticket or two - pathetic law makers in this country probably don't have this problem in their gated communities so its apparently a non issue for them and something only plebs like us have to deal with.

I am pretty angry about this because I live across from a primary school and the inconsiderate parents park across my driveway every single morning and afternoon and im the bad guy if I say anything

You can phone them to inform them of their smashed windscreen.

This is made towards Chinese market where those dick moves are pretty common. Police or rangers rarely do anything so for most people, the best option is to call these jerks' numbers to move their car.

          • @lbsyc: Police / rangers were very visible when I was last in Shanghai (and in Seoul).
I saw plenty of cars broken into and towed; pity it set off the car alarms.

You haven't been to Taiwan China ?

      • +21

I live near the beach, shitheads block my driveway, anybody who parks outside the law with the car crossing my driveway gets fined, i immediatly phone the parking ranger, he is on speed dial

$95 a pop, i should get a gold star for making the council so much easy $

        • +3

Ok but what did you get in return? The car was still there after they booked it.

          • @justwii: Satisfaction that d***heads get what they deserve and hopefully won't repeat the offence?

      • +1

If they did that why would they leave their number?

    • +8

just in case you want to give everyone who walks past your car, your phone number.

      • +6

a simple piece of paper with huge numbers under the windscreen can do just this. in any color. just without blinking…

      • This would be for the guys that want car girls

    • +4

For times where you have explosive diarrhea and can't find a park.

    • +2

I'd say these are useless in Australia.

      • Un-Australian?

      • Could be a high-tech way to give a girl your phone number in a bar. You'd look like a (profanity), but a high-tech (profanity) at that.

i think red & blue leds works better

    • +3

      With an alternating flashing pattern

Ordered one… I'm gonna put Alan's number on it, and park it in the middle of the harbour bridge.

    • not Sydney Opera House?

      • Dont think ill get quite as much exposure parking the car in front of the OH….but sure to get plenty of people calling my number Alan on the Harbour Bridge

        • hah! hopefully they don't read this, they might get another idea to use SHB instead of SOH

    • Easy to find his number. Pretty sure it's up on the walls of a few public toilets

  • +4

Link to better deal > SEE HERE > Just leave your business card or hand write your number on some paper.. lol

  • Though this was like a little LCD number display, then realised it's just a backlight with number tiles.

    • I'm not even sure it is backlight? The way I read the product page was it is luminous paint.

  • +4

This is almost useless in Australia…high demand in China as there are limited parking spaces available so people have to park in front of other people's cars when dining in at a restaurant, then move the car if it blocks the way

    • -4

China has a relatively low car ownership rate - 69th in the world.

      • -1

downvoted for an informative comment, kinda harsh, have an upvote

      • +1

There are more than 300 million cars in China…

        • -1

Which means that only 1 in 4 people have a car. This is equivalent to Australia in the 1950s.

          • +2

@MrZ: Irrelevant. Population density is the key factor, and in some parts of that country it's a real problem. Just throwing out statistics doesn't actually get rid of the problem, what are you, a politician?

  • you'll be surprised how common these are in a lot of Asian countires

  • So once people have your number you can "Hide your phone number, refusal to harassment". That's pretty cool!

    • “Refusal to harassment.”

I think I just found works new workplace motivational poster for the break room… :D

    Edit: 5318008

  • Who would have known that yiu would need a product like this. Can it be programmed for words as when I double park I'd prefer to leave the following message:

    F$&k You!

    • 5318008.

  • "please don't key my car, call me and I will move it"

  • Some work places have tandem parking and ask staff to leave their number so the other car can go out.

This must be some Japanese/Koran thing, does people are seriously weird and wack.

  • -1

Trust me. If a jerk blocks your car, and if you are a decent person, I think that you rather call him to move his car rather than sitting there and cursing him.

  • +2

Hmm pen and paper is pretty new technology. I better just stick to this.

  • +1

I wonder if I can put some emoji on it as well. That would be really cool in particularly when a woman asks for my phone number, a gadget likes this would really impress her. Taking a snapshot of my gadget and mobile number instead of keying into the phone.

    • this should be a very good suggestion^^

  • Interestingly, there have been 783 clicks on the link, and no up-votes on this posting.

    • yes, really embarrassing, maybe many people are not interested in this Temporary Parking Card, not for blocking road or against the traffic rule, but for Emergency parking

      • The website loads really slowly, maybe people arent waiting for the page load?

Seems like a reasonable price for this model after a quick check of ebay and AliExpress. The sticker version is about half the price though. Ozbargainers raise a good point about pen and paper too.
