Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.5" Wi-Fi 32GB Grey $379 @ Officeworks

260

Cheapest Australian price seen so far is $449 @ JB, so $379 looks like a good deal
Note: this is not the older Samsung Tab A 10.1 (unless they've made a mistake in the listing!), clearly says 10.5 and comes with Android 8.1 so must be the new model

  • On the description it say super amoled display, but under specification it say TFT LCD , is this tablet really come with amoled display?

  • Damn I just bought one off ebay for 397

  • Does this support the S-pen?

I was also interested in whether it did or not, and after some research, it does not. source

Under the hood, there is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 processor, and the tablet doesn’t offer S Pen, an Iris Scanner, or Samsung DeX support.

    • No.

Honestly, do yourself a favour and drop the same money ($469 RRP) on a current gen iPad!!

The iPad has a better screen, apple pencil support and a processor that is not even in the same league…hell its not even the same sport!! as the SD450 in the TAB A. It will get vastly longer software updates and support and has a better range of tablet optimised apps.

I am an absolute android fan but the TAB A Range is not even mid-range any more… with the current iPads starting at $469…Unless you are getting the Galaxy TAB S…or a CHEAP 7 or 8 inncher like the Lenovo Tab 3 8 plus…iPads are the ONLY way to go in terms of tablet.

I hate Apple and only get android products. But I gotta say that the only Apple product I've used that I find better in some ways is the iPad. If you're wanting to customise it, treat it like a PC and get all kinds of different apps for free, stick with Android. Otherwise iPads are a bit better. You're right about the software. Apple has better updates and usually no issues after the updates. Samsung are one of the worst for software updates. They'd rather you just buy the next model. Android updates are for so many companies which might have some issues when updating phones/tablets. Apple only do it for themselves so it's easier.

I wholeheartedly agtee with this , I'm all in for Android phones, but for tablets iPads are the way to go, much much better , spesh at that 2018 iPad price point

    • 379 is not the same as 469… lol

      Yeah but iTunes….

I would've suggested the mi pad 4 plus or media pad m5 (for a tad more) if you want an android.

If you don't care about apple's sh*tty ecosystem, then iPad is the best bang for buck out there.

      • iPad is the best bang for buck

Never though I would hear this ever, what a world we live in

      • I looked into the Mi Pad 4 a little while back - Mi Pad 4 u need to jump through hoops to remove sh1tty china ROM or vendor ROM (latest Xiaomi unlock timeout is like a month or something ridiculous as well) to flash MIUI.EU (i.e. genuine community global ROM with google/safetynet/etc. properly done and china specific stuff removed)
You can sideload play onto china ROM if you want to live with that

Media Pad m5 is a LOT more (like 200+) from everywhere I've seen but sure

having bought Tab A 10.1 at very decent price earlier this year, I'd have to agree with this - iPads are killing it in tablets department

  • Just bought the tablet this morning. Not bad at that price and it's screen size is better for watching videos

    • is it laggy?
